Pet-friendly café near Uicheon Stream in Dobong, Seoul: Uisagye at

In short

Uisagye is a pet-friendly chimney bread and bingsu (shaved ice) café right by Uicheon Stream in Dobong, Seoul, where small dogs under 10kg are welcome on the 2nd floor and terrace. Visiting in the evening with her mom, the writer ordered snow-flake persimmon bingsu and homemade omija (five-flavor berry) ade — the chimney bread was sold out, but both the drink and the bingsu were satisfying. Uisagye is a great spot to enjoy dessert by a quiet first-floor window at night, then take a walk along Uicheon Stream.

Uisagye's snow-flake iced persimmon bingsu and omija ade

My siblings and I came to Uisagye once before, and I remember the chimney bread being genuinely delicious! My mom had never been to this café by Uicheon Stream, and she still hadn't tried the chimney bread here, so we went to Uisagye in Changdong! We'd already had dinner elsewhere, but there's always room for dessert, right? I can't be the only one haha.

Getting to Uisagye and the night-time exterior

Since it was our second visit, we took the bus and got off at the closer Changdong Seoul Takju stop this time — just 3 minutes on foot from there! It's a red brick building, but it was a shame you couldn't see it well at night — coming in the daytime gives a brighter, warmer vibe! On the 2nd floor terrace there's a big chimney bread sign with a ribbon on it, which is a cute touch 🥨

The basement space had been turned into a staff-only area. Seating is on the 1st and 2nd floors otherwise — since there were guests on the 2nd floor, we settled into the relatively quiet 1st-floor window seat. Coming at night gave it a completely different feel!

Chimney bread sold out in the evening, so we went with bingsu

We arrived after dinner hours, so there wasn't much dessert left and the chimney bread was sold out. I thought about picking a cake, but ended up choosing bingsu instead. Guess that's a good excuse to come back again hahaha.

Pet policy

Changdong café Uisagye is a pet-friendly café, but only small dogs under 10kg with harness and leash required, and pets are only allowed on the 2nd floor and terrace — so if you're visiting with a pet, check the guide posted at the door!

There were two bingsu options, snow-flake red bean bingsu and iced persimmon bingsu — my mom wanted the iced persimmon one, so we ordered the snow-flake iced persimmon bingsu along with a homemade omija ade. By the way, I ordered the omija ade on my first visit to Uisagye too and it was so good I had to get it again 😎

What's in the snow-flake iced persimmon bingsu

The snow-flake iced persimmon bingsu had snow-flake ice at the bottom, milk ice cream on top, plenty of iced persimmon, and one mini yakgwa (honey cookie) as topping. The milk ice cream was sweet, and paired with the cold iced persimmon it felt super refreshing. The perfect dessert to have right before summer ends!

What does the homemade omija ade taste like?

I guess dinner was a bit salty, because I kept getting thirsty and craved something cold, so I ordered this — isn't the color gorgeous? 🧡

The homemade omija ade is made with omija (five-flavor berry) concentrate from berries harvested in Geochang, so you can taste the fruit's signature five distinct flavors in every sip!

The balance between the refreshing tartness and the light sweetness was great, and the fizzy, crisp finish was just right for this omija ade!

If you're looking for a sweet, cold drink with a distinctive flavor, I'd recommend the non-coffee omija ade at Changdong café Uisagye! 🧡

Iced persimmon bingsu topped with milk ice cream and mini yakgwa

The persimmon itself was just very cold, and since it was mixed in with the ice cream, the sweetness wasn't overpowering, but you could still catch the persimmon's natural, subtle sweetness alongside the ice cream's flavor, cold and lovely haha. As it melted more and more, by the end it was perfect to crush up the persimmon and mix it into the bingsu!

Next time, coming in the daytime for chimney bread

It was a shame I missed out on the chimney bread since we came in the evening, but I was fully satisfied with both the drink and the bingsu! Coming in the daytime means you can also see Uicheon Stream out front and enjoy the great view, so next time I'll come during the day for some warm, fresh chimney bread 😎 Uicheon Stream is right in front, so it's also perfect for a walk after eating bingsu! 🚶‍♀️
