Seolleung gyukatsu restaurant, bar seats for solo dining: Gyuen Dang
In short
Gyuen Dang Seolleung Branch is a gyukatsu (Japanese beef cutlet) restaurant on the second floor of a building within walking distance of Seolleung Station in Gangnam, Seoul. Arriving at 4pm, just before the 3pm–5pm weekday break ends, the writer grilled the gyukatsu over a tabletop charcoal grill with butter and finished the meal with refillable salad and crisp pickled radish. With a separate bar counter, Gyuen Dang Seolleung Branch suits solo diners and couples equally well.

Hi, this is Kim Donggeul.
While out on a date near Seolleung Station, I stopped by Gyuen Dang Seolleung Branch for gyukatsu (breaded beef cutlet).
I love gyukatsu and I've tried it at quite a few places, but the meat at Gyuen Dang Seolleung Branch was genuinely some of the most tender I've had. I also liked how generously the whole meal was laid out.
The meat itself was what really stuck with me, so let me introduce this place to anyone looking for a lunch spot or date spot near Seolleung Station.
(It was really tender and delicious.)
Where is Gyuen Dang Seolleung Branch, and what are the hours?

Gyuen Dang Seolleung Branch is easy to reach on foot from Seolleung Station. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor of the building, so you head up a staircase to get there.
- Weekdays 11:00–21:30 (break time 15:00–17:00 / last order 20:30)
- Weekends 11:30–22:00 (no break time / last order 21:00)
I visited around 4:30pm. Lunch was long over and it was a bit early for dinner, but there were still quite a few customers.

The interior was clean overall, with a comfortable atmosphere for sitting down to eat.
Bar seats for solo diners and a date-friendly room

Besides the regular tables, Gyuen Dang Seolleung Branch also has bar seats where you can eat alone. Since the Seolleung area has a lot of offices, there must be plenty of office workers looking for a solo lunch spot, and these seats looked like a good option.
It also had a nice atmosphere for two people to share gyukatsu together, so I'd recommend it as a date spot near Seolleung Station too.
The staff were kind, so I had a comfortable meal. There's no parking available, so I'd recommend taking public transit rather than driving.
What comes with the gyukatsu set at Gyuen Dang

The moment the food arrived, my first thought was that it was really generous.
Centered around the gyukatsu, the table filled up with rice, soup, salad, pickled radish, sauces and more. With so much to go along with it, it made for a satisfying meal.

The hottest tabletop charcoal grill I've used
Each table comes with its own charcoal grill. You place pieces of gyukatsu on it one at a time and grill them to your liking.
There was something fun about grilling the thick-cut gyukatsu piece by piece on the grill. The heat was the strongest I've experienced at any gyukatsu place I've been to — the meat cooked faster than expected, so I could eat one piece and put the next one on without any lull.

The most tender beef cutlet: Gyuen Dang's gyukatsu
Of all the gyukatsu restaurants I've been to, the meat at Gyuen Dang Seolleung Branch felt the most tender. It was cut thick, but chewing it there was no toughness at all — it was incredibly soft.
Eating it, I could tell they were using a good cut of meat. Gyukatsu ultimately comes down to how good the meat tastes, and this was especially satisfying.

Grilling the gyukatsu with melted butter
Something I personally really liked was the butter.
You melt the butter on the grill first, then cook the gyukatsu in it — the butter's rich, nutty flavor makes the meat even better. It paired really well with the gyukatsu.

Salad refills and pickled radish at Gyuen Dang
The salad is refillable. Since this dish means eating quite a lot of meat, it was nice to have salad in between.
The pickled radish here was also good. As you keep eating meat, you naturally start craving something crunchy in between, and the pickled radish paired so well that I kept reaching for more.

Dental floss on the way out and the restroom
After finishing the meal, I noticed dental floss set out near the exit.
After eating meat, you often need floss, so I thought it was a thoughtful touch to have it ready.
The restroom was also kept clean. That's something I quietly pay attention to when eating out, and since everything from the dining area to the restroom was tidy, I'd recommend it even more as a date spot.
Gyukatsu near Seolleung Station: would I go back to Gyuen Dang?

Gyuen Dang Seolleung Branch is the kind of place I think I'll remember whenever I'm craving gyukatsu near Seolleung Station. The generous spread was great, but what stuck with me most was how tender and delicious the meat was.
That makes it a good spot for couples too. A boyfriend who loves meat and a girlfriend who prefers a nice atmosphere could both come away satisfied, so I'd recommend it as a date restaurant near Seolleung Station.
There are also bar seats for solo diners, so it's a good option for anyone looking for a place to eat alone near Seolleung Station. The location is convenient too, making it a good pick when office workers get a craving for gyukatsu at lunch.
For me, what made it satisfying above all was that the meat was among the most tender gyukatsu I've ever had. Between the generous portions and the butter, it was a delicious meal.
If you're looking for a lunch spot, date spot, or solo dining spot near Seolleung Station, I hope you'll try the warm, tableside-grilled gyukatsu at Gyuen Dang Seolleung Branch. This has been Kim Donggeul.
