Jamsil sandwich shop to share: basil jambon-beurre and bánh mì

I'd heard there was a sandwich shop near Jamsil Station with really good baguette bread, so I went to check out Town Sandwich. It's located in the Star Park building across from Jamsil Jangmi Sangga, and it's popular as a lunch spot with office workers in the area too.

Town Sandwich in Jamsil is pretty close to exit 7 or exit 9 of Jamsil Station. A place that does coffee well and sandwiches even better — perfect for lunch.

They say everything is made fresh after you order, but the food came out faster than I expected. Since baguette sandwiches are the signature menu here, it's a great spot to stop by if you're craving jambon-beurre or bánh mì in Jamsil.

The outdoor tables, nice for this kind of weather, look pretty too with their yellow tones.

The inside is also fairly spacious and clean, so it was genuinely nice to eat there in the shop.

The bar seats, good for a solo lunch in Jamsil, are a popular spot too. The self-serve bar with napkins and wet wipes was tidy, which made the experience even better.

At Town Sandwich near Jamsil Station, you order through the kiosk. There's one kiosk at the entrance and another inside the store. If the line for the outside kiosk is long, I'd recommend heading inside to try the other one.

The first kiosk screen highlights the good-value set menus. The drink sets, which let you enjoy a sandwich with a drink at a good price, were clearly the most popular option.

For sandwiches, there was the best-selling Town Sandwich and basil jambon-beurre, along with various other jambon-beurre options, bánh mì, egg sandwiches, and more.

Among the drinks, I was curious about the Agajak menu, which uses Biwon-jaewon sugar (a Korean specialty sugar brand).

Of course there was coffee that pairs well with a Jamsil sandwich, plus a variety of lattes, ades, iced teas, and milk teas, so it was easy to find a drink to match your taste.

There were also hearty soup sets and all-in-one sets, and for dessert you could buy big, sweet cookies.

Town Sandwich has so many good options that I always struggle over what to order whenever I visit. This time, my friend and I picked the basil jambon-beurre — the best-selling jambon-beurre in Jamsil — and the grilled chicken bánh mì, and split them in half. Since you can choose to have the sandwich cut into 2 or 3 pieces, it's genuinely convenient for sharing with company.

My throat was a bit off, so I ordered a hot americano for a change, and the coffee itself was so good that it put me in a great mood right from the start of the meal.

How does the basil jambon-beurre taste?

The best-selling basil jambon-beurre layers good-quality jambon with plenty of fresh arugula and a tasty basil sauce — always a satisfying pick for me, since I love arugula and jambon.

The basil aroma isn't overpowering and pairs just right with the arugula. The baguette is properly crisp outside and chewy inside, with a light toast to it, and the salty jambon balances it so well that I kept reaching for more — really a great Jamsil sandwich.

What is the grilled chicken bánh mì like?

I'd been wanting bánh mì for a while, so I ordered the grilled chicken bánh mì. Just from the look of it, it screamed bánh mì, which made me even happier.

Soft, juicy chicken topped with shredded carrots and various vegetables — this is properly bánh mì. The sauce wasn't as intense as the ones you'd get in Vietnam, but it definitely carried that bánh mì feel. Since the sauce wasn't too strong, it's actually a style that most people would enjoy without much divide in taste. Thanks to the great baguette, it felt even more like a genuine bánh mì.

They even set out colorful little candies on the counter table, which kept me in a good mood right to the end at Town Sandwich in Jamsil.
