A Daemyeong-dong, Daegu favorite for Korean set meals: Cafe Dongi Daemyeong Station Branch

I often stop by Cafe Dongi whenever I'm craving a clean, no-fuss Korean meal. This time I visited the Daemyeong Station branch. I was looking for somewhere easy to eat near Daemyeong-dong and ended up here — let me share the parking info and menu review from my visit.

Where to park at Cafe Dongi Daemyeong Station Branch

The building Cafe Dongi is in doesn't have its own dedicated parking lot. There's room for about 1–2 cars right in front of the restaurant.

If those spots are full, you can use the free roadside parking in the alley behind Nam-Daegu Tax Office — no parking fee there. And if you can't find a spot even in the alley, just call the restaurant directly and they'll guide you.

Inside Cafe Dongi: group tables, bar seats and kids' chairs

Stepping inside Cafe Dongi Daemyeong Station Branch, the space is pretty spacious with a clean interior. In the middle of the hall there's a large table that seats anywhere from 7 to 14 people at once, great for gatherings or group visits.

There are also bar seats for solo diners, regular 4-person tables, and even kids' chairs for anyone coming with little ones.

What's on the self-serve bar: fried eggs and barley gangjeong

Besides the main dishes, Cafe Dongi has a really well-stocked self-serve bar you can help yourself to.

There's a station where you can fry your own eggs however you like them, plus unlimited five-grain rice and sweet barley gangjeong (crispy barley candy snack).

Munching on barley gangjeong while waiting for the food made the wait fly by.

For drinks, there's cool heotgae tea and a separate water dispenser. Water isn't brought to your table automatically, so grab it yourself from the self-bar if you need it.

Menu review: spicy pork, curry set and yeolmu bibimbap

This time we ordered the grilled pork bulgogi, the shoulder-cut Japanese-style curry set, and the bulgogi yeolmu bibimbap (radish green bibimbap) to share.

Dongi flame-grilled spicy pork

The pork bulgogi arrives with a faint smoky, charred aroma that immediately whets your appetite.

There's a generous amount of onion and vegetables in it, which added a nice crunchy texture alongside the meat. If you're into pork dishes loaded with vegetables, you'll really enjoy this.

Shoulder-cut Japanese-style curry set

The curry has a slightly thin consistency rather than a thick one.

It's not spicy or strongly flavored — smooth and easy to mix and eat without feeling heavy.

Bulgogi yeolmu bibimbap

This bibimbap set was newly launched, so I got to try it at a promotional price.

You can definitely taste the smoky char on the bulgogi on top, which keeps it from tasting flat and adds a nutty depth. The crunchy yeolmu kimchi (young radish kimchi) paired really well with the bulgogi — I finished it right down to the last spoonful.

The seaweed soup that comes with every meal

Your meal also comes with a generous bowl of seaweed soup.

That said, for my taste the broth had a slight fishy note typical of seaweed that left a bit to be desired. If you prefer a clean, clear broth, this one might be a bit hit or miss.

Is Cafe Dongi Daemyeong Station Branch worth a visit?

As a Korean restaurant in Daemyeong-dong, Daegu, this is a genuinely solid choice for an easy meal, whether you're eating alone or with a group.

The self-bar with the fried egg station and barley gangjeong is a nice bonus, and there's good variety with the smoky pork and bulgogi alongside the milder curry.

Keep the parking tip about the spot behind Nam-Daegu Tax Office in mind and enjoy an easy visit.
