Assorted sashimi table spread at Mr. Squid Yongin Bojeong Branch

Sashimi and seafood are my favorite foods, and since moving to Yongin, this is the sashimi restaurant I go to!!

(This has actually been a spot my husband, my kid and I have gone to on our own money for about two years now — I recently received this visit as a sponsorship.)

Why Mr. Squid is the one sashimi spot in Bojeong-dong, Yongin

There are three reasons I keep coming back to Mr. Squid Yongin Bojeong Branch. It sits right in the middle of the busy Bojeong-dong cafe street, which makes it easy to combine with other spots before or after, and I love both the vibe and the spread of dishes.

  • It's located in the middle of the busy street, so whether you're coming from a first round elsewhere or heading somewhere else for a second round, there are plenty of places nearby.
  • I liked the atmosphere haha — good music, not too loud (just the right amount of buzz).
  • The food, the table spread, and the service were all great ♡

Finding the restaurant on the cafe street corner

The exterior of Mr. Squid, right on the corner of the intersection as soon as you enter the cafe street — this is the main, busiest corner.

What is the seating and lighting like inside Mr. Squid?

Mr. Squid Yongin Bojeong Branch has booth-style seating with lighting that's dim in just the right way. A lot of sashimi restaurants have really stark white lighting, but this place isn't like that at all haha.

  • Lighting that's atmospheric without being too dark
  • Good spacing between tables so you're not disturbed, plus booth seating — love it
  • A spacious layout that's just the right size

Even though we visited on a Monday, there were still quite a few customers haha.

Side dishes and the full table spread

The side dishes at Mr. Squid Yongin Bojeong Branch are white kimchi, macaroni corn salad, seaweed salad, and seaweed soup. The white kimchi, macaroni corn salad, seaweed salad, and seaweed soup are all just right ♡ hahaha — my son always eats some sashimi and then mixes rice into that seaweed soup.

Menu lineup and how the free spicy stew works

The menu is mainly sliced raw fish (sashimi), squid sashimi, and various seafood, and there's a nice variety of set menus combining a main with different sides, so it's fun just to browse the menu 🙂 Order the medium size or larger of the assorted sashimi and the spicy stew is free!

How generous is the medium assorted sashimi platter?

The medium-size assorted sashimi we ordered arrived ~♡♡ So generous... wow....♡

Steamed egg came out too hahaha. Such a generous full table! My son loves steamed egg so he ate that up well too ♡

(Even now that he's in elementary school, I always worry about what my son will eat whenever we go out.. am I the only one? 🥲🤭)

I dove into the sashimi without holding back haha. Dipped it in wasabi-soy sauce, wrapped it in perilla leaves, and also tried it with white kimchi and ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste) haha.

Finishing with spicy stew and ramen noodles

Once we were nearly done, we asked for the spicy stew and they prepared it right away haha.

There's a choice of ramen noodles, dumpling dough (sujebi), or knife-cut noodles (kalguksu), and we went classic(?) with ramen noodles hahaha. There was a lot of crown daisy greens, so the stew was nice and refreshing and delicious ♡ Delicious all the way to the end at Mr. Squid Yongin Bojeong Branch ♥︎
