In short
Jojomomo is a Korean bar on the basement level at the entrance to Bangi Meokja-golmok food alley in Songpa, Seoul, a 9-minute walk from Jamsil Station. On a late Friday night the writer and their partner ordered tuna and aged kimchi rolls and mul dakgalbi (soupy spicy chicken), then added ramen noodles to the leftover broth, with a welcome glass of Jirisan Gangsoeju rice wine. This time I visited [Jojomomo], a great-vibe Korean bar (한식 요리주점) near the entrance to Bangi Meokja-golmok! 🍶 I'd been meaning to check it out with friends once before, but the wait was so long we never made it in ㅠㅠ I kept telling myself I'd definitely go someday, and this time I finally made it with my partner haha >_<
As expected, this popular Bangi-dong bar was busy today too!! We went late on a Friday night, and just then there happened to be exactly 2 seats open, so we got in with no wait haha!! Such good timing~~!!

How to walk to Jojomomo from Jamsil Station
[Jojomomo] is about a 9-minute walk from Exit 10 of Jamsil Station (Line 2, Line 8)!

It's right near the entrance to Bangi Meokja-golmok, so it was easy to find! The store is on the basement floor~~!
Inside Jojomomo: dim lighting and bar tables
The interior is dim overall, but each table has its own light and there are mood lights scattered around, so the atmosphere was really nice!
Such a great place to come with my partner!! Good for a date, good for a drink with friends, and it looked fine for a group dinner too~~

There's also a separate bar table set up, so it looked like a good spot for solo drinking too :) There's a big screen too, which seemed like it'd make things even more fun!
The restroom is a unisex one right in front of the store! And the restroom card key was hanging on this super cute raccoon doll near the entrance haha
Since there's only one key, there's no worry about someone else walking in while you're using it, so even though it's unisex it was surprisingly comfortable to use~~ The restroom was clean too!~!~!
Jojomomo's menu and traditional Korean liquor list

Looking at the menu, there were so many dishes that looked genuinely delicious,,, being a proper Korean bar, they had a range of traditional liquors — dongdongju (milky rice wine), fruit wines, distilled spirits, and more! If you like traditional Korean liquor, picking one is half the fun haha

You can also see photos of the menu on their Instagram, and the other dishes looked so good it took me forever to choose haha. So many side dishes that pair well with traditional liquor — I honestly wanted to try everything,,!!!
What we ordered at Jojomomo: free snacks and the welcome rice wine
We ordered the tuna aged kimchi roll and mul dakgalbi (soupy braised chicken)~! For basic side dishes we got crackers and truffle potato salad!

Piling the truffle potato salad on top of the crackers was so good~~ And one more nice touch from Jojomomo!! They also brought us Jirisan Gangsoeju as a pre-meal drink haha. Apparently it's the yakju (light rice wine) they serve as a welcome drink, and it fit the Korean bar mood so well! Love a good welcome drink~~!! 😆🍶
Tuna and aged kimchi roll

The tuna aged kimchi roll that came out first — honestly, how could this combination not be delicious,,? haha!!! It's rice and tuna rolled up in perilla leaves and aged kimchi, and it was thicker and more generous than I expected!

Adding a little of the fresh wasabi that came with it made it even more delicious~~~ I'd already eaten dinner before coming, but it was so good I kept eating haha
Mul dakgalbi (soupy spicy chicken) at Jojomomo
And then the mul dakgalbi I'd been curious about!! It comes out fully cooked, so all you have to do at the table is simmer it and enjoy~~

It's a spicy soup dish with tender, brined and marinated chicken simmered with minari (water dropwort) and perilla leaves!

I think this was my first time trying mul dakgalbi, and just looking at it, it couldn't not be delicious haha The chicken meat was so tender~~ and inside there were rice cake and sweet potato noodles too, so it really felt like eating dakgalbi as a soup dish?!

Spice-wise, I'd personally put it somewhere between Shin Ramyun and Buldak Bokkeum Myeon! Spicy and savory, it paired so well as a drinking snack too 🍶
🍜 Why adding ramen noodles to the broth is a must

There's no way we could stop after eating such delicious mul dakgalbi~~?ㅋㅋㅋㅋ I originally really wanted udon noodles, but they said you could only add ramen noodles or steamed rice, so I immediately added ramen noodles!!

We added ramen noodles to the leftover mul dakgalbi broth and simmered it a bit more, and wow,, it was so good ㅠㅠ The broth had reduced further and gotten even more savory, soaking right into the noodles — I just kept slurping them up~~ Total rice-thief-level dish!! haha
Final verdict: who will enjoy Jojomomo?
Satisfying from the atmosphere to the food, this Bangi-dong bar [Jojomomo]! I could see why it has a wait haha. Thanks to the moody, emotional atmosphere it's great for a date, and with so many tasty Korean side dishes it also seemed like a fine spot to visit with friends or for a group dinner!
They also have a bar table, so I'd recommend it to anyone in Jamsil looking for a place to drink solo~~ Above all, the other menu items looked so good that I'm definitely planning to come back!!! >_< Next time I really want to try Jojomomo's signature braised pork rib bossam, which is sold in limited quantities~~!!
If you're looking for a Korean bar with great atmosphere in Bangi-dong, give [Jojomomo] a try! 🍶✨
