Jwasuyeong Baguette Burger is a baguette burger and sea-mugwort dessert spot within walking distance of Yi Sun-sin Square in Yeosu. This Yeosu trip was built around an island expo course, and while looking for somewhere simple to eat, I ended up visiting Jwasuyeong Baguette Burger.

If you're visiting Yeosu, you've got to swing by Yi Sun-sin Square at least once, haha~ There are tons of good restaurants and street food around, so it's a fun area to wander through. While walking near the square on this trip, one place really caught my eye — Jwasuyeong Baguette Burger!!! It's one of the signature things people think of when they think of Yeosu, so I'd been curious about it for a while.

Just eating a baguette burger felt like it might not be enough, so I also tried the ice cream made with Geomundo sea mugwort, a Yeosu specialty~ haha. On top of that, the tungkarong (chubby macarons) looked like a good souvenir. This time I properly enjoyed some of Yeosu's famous food, all in one place.

Arriving at the storefront, the name Jwasuyeong Baguette Burger immediately caught my eye.

True to its reputation as a well-known baguette burger specialist in Yeosu, plenty of tourists were around. And the spot itself isn't just any ordinary location — apparently it sits on the former site of the Jeolla Left Naval Base from the Joseon dynasty, where the turtle ships were built, which I found pretty fascinating. There's even an old well preserved inside the store, nice to look at while waiting for your order. Getting a little taste of history along with the food made the visit more memorable.

Jwasuyeong Baguette Burger has a seating area inside. Once I stepped in, the space was more spacious than I expected — and since takeout food can sometimes leave you without anywhere to sit while traveling, that was a nice touch.

I visited on a hot day, and the interior was nicely air-conditioned, making it a good place to take a short break. It would also be a nice spot to rest with a drink or ice cream while out exploring. On one wall, there was some writing about Yeosu and the Jeolla Left Naval Base — reading through it while waiting for the food was more interesting than I expected, haha.

The store also sells tungkarong. The colorful look makes them pretty for photos, and they seemed like a good option to bring home as gifts.

The menu was simpler than I expected. The signature item is, of course, the Jwasuyeong baguette burger. There's also mugwort ice cream made with Geomundo sea mugwort.

There are also drinks like Americano, latte, and ade, good to enjoy alongside the meal. And the item that really stood out to me was the Jwasuyeong tungkarong — sold as a set so you can try several flavors at once.

How does the baguette burger taste? Crisp crust, moist filling

Okay~ time for the taste review.

First up was the main item, the Jwasuyeong baguette burger. It looked pretty hefty from the outside, and once I looked inside, the filling was genuinely generous.

The baguette had a crisp exterior while the inside was softer than expected. It was packed with meat and vegetables, and the cabbage salad and sauce inside kept it from feeling dry — everything stayed moist.

The savory meat paired nicely with the tangy, nutty salad. There were bits of cheongyang chili mixed in too, giving it a slightly spicy kick — a subtle but nice touch. It cut through what could've been a heavy, greasy flavor, and I kept reaching for more, haha.

The portion was bigger than I expected too — I'd thought of it as a light snack, but it ended up being a full, filling meal. It seems like great food to grab when you're hungry while exploring Yeosu.

Geomundo sea-mugwort ice cream: fine even if you don't like mugwort?

The sea-mugwort ice cream I ordered alongside it uses Geomundo sea mugwort, a distinctly Yeosu item I'd wanted to try 🌿 Even the color had a soft mugwort tint.

Taking a bite, the mugwort's distinctive aroma spread subtly. Rather than a bitter or heavy taste, what came through first was sweet and nutty.

I think even people who don't usually eat mugwort could enjoy this one without much hesitation, not just mugwort fans.

Best of all, after finishing the baguette burger, a bite of the ice cream cooled my mouth down perfectly to wrap things up, haha. Eating it on such a hot day probably made it taste even better.

Trying all five Jwasuyeong tungkarong (chubby macaron) flavors

Last up is the Jwasuyeong tungkarong. The colorful look alone made for great photos and put me in a good mood. With several flavors included, it was fun picking through them one by one.

Final verdict: worth adding to a Yeosu food itinerary

If you're looking for something to eat near Yi Sun-sin Square while in Yeosu, Jwasuyeong Baguette Burger is worth a visit at least once, haha~ The baguette burger alone is filling, but adding the sea-mugwort ice cream and tungkarong lets you taste several of Yeosu's famous foods in one sitting.

It's also close to Jinnamgwan, so it was easy to work into a course with the surrounding sights. If you're traveling around Yeosu on an island expo course, it's worth stopping by while exploring Yi Sun-sin Square.
