Busan dessert café near Gwangan Station with matcha latte: Deokmi
In short
Deokmi Atelier Gwang-an Branch is a European-antique dessert café set in a remodeled house down a backstreet in Gwangalli, Busan. The visit covered a matcha latte and a royal vanilla bean latte with white peach tiramisu (12,000 won) and crème brûlée French toast (13,000 won), enjoyed slowly in the yard with the café's two resident cats. The matcha latte was the best one tried so far, and the French toast was soft enough for a knife to slide straight through.

A Busan house remodeled into a European atelier
An antique interior modeled after a small European café and atelier

Deokmi Atelier Gwang-an Branch sits down a residential alley and looks like a remodeled house with a front yard. There are wooden tables in the yard and on the deck too. Plus, cute cats~ Honestly, part of the reason I came was to see the cats, and both were there — so exciting~

True to Deokmi's usual concept, the Gwangalli branch has that European, European feel. The antique yet clean wood-toned props and the way the space is arranged were so pretty. It's modeled after a European atelier, so little props catch your eye everywhere. There's a restroom inside too, which is convenient.
How ordering works at Deokmi Atelier

Deokmi is a Gwangalli dessert café known for coffee, various drinks, French toast, jambon sandwiches, and handmade desserts.

The beans are good enough that even a plain Americano would've been great, but the signature drinks looked good too, so after much deliberation my boyfriend ordered the royal vanilla bean latte and I got the matcha latte~ because matcha is love, haha~

Brunch and seasonal menu at Deokmi Atelier
With peach season in full swing, you can't miss the white peach tiramisu ₩12,000, crème brûlée French toast ₩13,000, jambon beurre sandwich ₩14,000, and the current seasonal soup, corn soup ₩9,000. A great Gwangalli brunch spot with a light brunch menu too!!
We'd already had lunch, but... after a meal, sweet dessert is even more tempting, right? So we ordered the white peach tiramisu and the crème brûlée French toast. Even if it means skipping dinner, dessert is non-negotiable, haha.
How did the matcha latte and royal vanilla bean latte taste?
At Deokmi, the staff bring everything to your table themselves.

While waiting for the drinks, I snuck a photo of the cat's back, haha. Quite a sturdy backside!!

The matcha latte... was seriously so good!! Wherever I go I always order matcha latte~ I've tried them everywhere, and I always thought Starbucks was the best, but I think Deokmi wins now... (my own opinion, of course). It was so smooth and delicious I didn't leave a single drop, haha. And the royal vanilla bean latte — no need to say more~ a gentle vanilla scent, perfect for a caffeine transfusion!!
White peach tiramisu and crème brûlée French toast

The white peach tiramisu was really refreshing and delicious. Pink fresh peaches (softened in sugar) plus Greek yogurt plus handmade tiramisu cream — the way these three came together in such a golden ratio, whoever developed this dessert is truly impressive!!
There's a generous layer of peach pieces on top of the sponge, then tiramisu cream and Greek yogurt on top of that. I gently sliced the two big peach pieces with a knife and dipped them in the cream first, haha. Peach yogurt cake has been trendy lately, right? The combination was so good and refreshing — truly a winner!!
The crème brûlée French toast had an enormous amount of cream, right? Not the least bit greasy — just light, clean whipped cream. It was my first time having French toast as a dessert, and I was genuinely startled cutting it with a knife!! I braced myself to press hard, but it sliced through so effortlessly that I was a little shocked, haha. The toast was really thick, but the flowing cream covered up the cross-section anyway, haha.

Apparently crème brûlée is made by sprinkling sugar over custard and caramelizing it with a torch, so the outside is crispy and the inside is soft. True to its name, the outside was crisp with that appealing scorched-sugar flavor~ (like dalgona candy). Dip it in the cream and it disappears in a flash... a dangerously addictive dessert you can't stop eating.

Is Deokmi Atelier Gwang-an Branch worth a visit?
The whole time we ate, the cat next to us would get up and look at us once in a while, then go back to sleep. Other guests kept coming over to our table to take photos of the cat, haha. It was such a great time enjoying delicious coffee and desserts. The Haeundae Deokmi was good too, but Gwangalli is a huge win as well. (Now I just need to check out the Gijang Deokmi!!) If you're looking for a café in Gwangalli with great brunch or great desserts, I'd really recommend visiting Deokmi Atelier.
