Inside the hall: high ceilings and seating for big groups
The hall at Tongkeun Shabu was considerably bigger than it looked from outside, and the open ceiling gave it a spacious, uncramped feel!

Salad bar highlights: cuttlefish sushi and gorgonzola honey pizza
Besides the main shabu-shabu, the side dish lineup at the salad bar was really solid. This is my first time seeing a shabu-shabu place with a sushi zone..🤍 The squid sushi was delicious.

The thin crust made it easy to enjoy alongside the shabu-shabu without feeling too heavy. Dipping the gorgonzola in honey especially had me going back for refills again and again haha

There's naengmyeon (cold noodles) too haha. The seasoning sauce was spicy so I passed on it. There's an incredibly wide variety of things beyond just the shabu-shabu.

Unlimited beef belly and shabu-shabu vegetables
The biggest advantage of Tongkeun Shabu is that you can take as much meat as you want without feeling self-conscious!!!⭐️

Napa cabbage, bok choy, bean sprouts, enoki mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, wood ear mushrooms and more — the key ingredients that give shabu-shabu its refreshing broth flavor — were kept refrigerated and very fresh.

Loading in plenty of cabbage, bean sprouts, and various mushrooms to boil made the broth's clean base flavor even better, adding the cool, deep sweetness of vegetable stock👍🏻
If the broth runs low midway, you can refill it yourself at the self-service bar, so you can keep the clean broth flavor going till the very end~~

I also thoroughly enjoyed the rice paper wrap ingredients 😋

The meat had no gamey smell and its savory fat paired well with the vegetables, and dipping it deep into chili sauce or soy ponzu sauce kept me going without getting tired of it. The sauce on the right was a bit too spicy for me, so I mostly used the chili sauce :)

Drinks, naengmyeon and ice cream for dessert
Soda, plum juice, coffee, and even ice cream dessert are all included in the all-you-can-eat, so I came away with a completely satisfying, filling meal!!
