Corn egg tart and vanilla bean latte at Grid Cafe, Ogeum-dong, Songpa

It felt like a waste to just head home after lunch with my boyfriend on the weekend, so we went out for sweet bread and coffee instead. Today I'm introducing Grid Cafe, a bakery café in Ogeum-dong, Songpa, known for its salt bread and egg tarts!

Parking only on weekends

🚗 Building parking is available on weekends and holidays. On weekdays, though, building parking isn't available, so keep that in mind if you're driving. Parking in a no-parking zone outside could reportedly lead to towing. If you're visiting on a weekday, I'd recommend using a nearby public parking lot!

Seating and time limits inside

There are several seats inside, so it looked like a good spot both for a quick bite of bread and coffee, and for settling in for a while. That said, if you're studying or using a laptop or tablet, there's a 2-hour limit on seating, so keep that in mind! They're also running an event where you get a free handmade rusk for writing a photo review :)

Menu lineup

Grid Cafe sells a variety of baked goods, from salt bread to egg tarts to ciabatta. They bake fresh every morning and sell it all the same day. Different breads come out at different times, so if there's something specific you want, it's worth checking before you visit! That said, the timing can shift a bit depending on the store's situation.

Crack salt bread

Personally, this was the best thing we ate that day :) True to its name, the outside was so crispy — up there with the crispiest salt breads I've ever had. And yet the inside was chewy, so the contrast between the crackly crust and the chewy center was really great. The more I chewed, the more of that nutty flavor came through, and I finally understood why it's called "crack" salt bread haha. If you love salt bread, this is a must-try!

Corn egg tart

The corn egg tart had a generous amount of corn inside. So it wasn't just a soft filling — there was that added pop of corn texture too. The corn itself was sweet and paired well with the egg tart, and the mix of sweetness with that fun little crunch made it a fun, different way to enjoy an egg tart :)

Egg tart

As an egg tart lover, I have to give credit where it's due...! The filling was packed in with no gaps, so the first bite delivered a full, soft custard flavor. What I liked even more was that it finished clean, without that eggy off-note. If you're an egg tart fan, you have to try the plain one too!

Iced Americano and iced vanilla bean latte

The iced Americano had an overall nutty, roasty character. Cold and clean, it went well alongside the bakery items. The iced vanilla bean latte was sweet and smooth! You could actually see the vanilla bean specks in the drink, which made it taste even better haha. I'd recommend this one to anyone who likes a sweet latte :)

Final thoughts

Grid Cafe is a bakery café in Ogeum-dong where you can enjoy a wide range of baked goods alongside coffee. Everything we tried that day was a hit!! From the impressively crispy crack salt bread to the corn-packed egg tart and the rich-filled plain egg tart, it was a satisfying spread all around. With plenty of seating, it's not just a grab-and-go spot for bread but also a nice place to sit back and relax with a cup of coffee. If you're in Songpa looking for good salt bread or egg tarts, this place is worth a visit :)
