Couple ring-making in Haenggung-dong, Suwon: twine rings at Loventa
In short
Loventa Suwon Haenggung is a private ring-making studio on the third floor of the main street of Haenggung-dong in Suwon, Gyeonggi. For an anniversary, the couple chose a twine design in a curtained-off workspace and shaped the rings by hand for about an hour, then walked around Haenggung-dong during the 40-minute finishing work and collected the rings the same day. Loventa Suwon Haenggung suits couples who want to combine making their own rings with a day out in Haenggung-dong.

For our anniversary, I wanted to make a special memory, so we went to a ring studio in Haenggung-dong! The process of making the ring ourselves was fun and the finished rings turned out so lovely — here's my review of Loventa Suwon Haenggung!
Where Loventa Suwon Haenggung is and what to know before you go
Loventa has two ring studios in total — Seongsu and Suwon Haenggung. The one I visited, Suwon Haenggung, sits right on the main street of Haengridan-gil, so it's great for a date before or after the ring-making session.

Loventa Suwon Haenggung is on the 3rd floor of the Onestime Off building on Haengridan-gil.

There's no elevator in the building, so you have to take the stairs up to the 3rd floor.

Ring designs and moissanite stones at Loventa
While waiting for the staff to check our reservation, I browsed the ring designs in the shop.

Loventa's rings are said to be designed and inspected directly by a jewelry designer with 30 years of experience.

They also use moissanite, a diamond substitute stone, instead of cubic zirconia. Ring studios tend to be on the pricier side so you end up choosing carefully, but I liked that the designs were varied and the quality was good.
A private workspace separated by curtains

Loventa's biggest strength is being able to make your ring in a private space.

The experience spaces are separated by walls and curtains, and you can press a bell to call a staff member whenever you need help. It was nice being able to focus on just the two of us without worrying about other people!
How long does the ring-making session take?
The hands-on ring-making part takes about 1 hour, and the staff's finishing work afterward takes about another hour, so same-day pickup is possible about 2 hours later in total.

Before starting, we first chose the ring design we wanted. There was plenty of time to choose, so we didn't need to decide in advance — we could compare slowly.

You can check the price for each ring in advance, and extra costs are listed separately too, so you know the final total ahead of time.

We decided on twine. After writing down our ring sizes and pickup information, the staff adjusted the model we picked to fit each of our sizes and brought it over. In my case, they had to bring the ring back three times to get the sizing right — it must have been a hassle for them, but they helped so kindly the whole time, I really appreciated it! (៸៸¯ᗜ¯៸៸)

After that, we properly started using the tools to shape the ring ourselves. It was my first time doing this kind of work so it felt novel, and building it up piece by piece was more fun than I expected haha

They have a phone stand set up, so you can record the ring-making process as a timelapse.

Once we'd finished everything we could do, the staff finished the rings up beautifully. While waiting for that finishing work, we spent time nearby in Haenggung-dong, and after about 40 minutes we got a call at the number we'd written down saying the rings were ready, so we headed right back to pick them up!

The finished twine rings and how they feel on
Ta-da! Aren't the finished rings so pretty? Compared to how they looked when we finished our part, the staff's finishing work made them shine and sparkle, so much prettier!
They also took a polaroid of us making the rings and gave it to us to keep.

The packaging is neat and feels premium too.

Here's how it looks worn! My knuckles are on the thicker side so I often feel rings don't suit me, but this design didn't make my fingers look any bulkier, which made me really happy.
It was fun making the ring ourselves in a private space, and nice being able to enjoy a Haenggung-dong date while waiting for the finishing work too! If you're looking for a special Haenggung-dong date course, I'd recommend it :)
