Where is On the Rail, the train-themed outdoor café in Munsan, Paju?

Let me introduce On the Rail, a great outdoor café in Paju for a family outing, built around a train concept. It's located at 25 Imjingang-ro, Munsan-eup, Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do, and it's open daily from 11am to 2am the next day. It's a Paju café that stays open really late into the night.

The road leading to On the Rail was full of romance and atmosphere.

You actually pass a railway crossing to get to the café. And from inside the café, you can watch trains go by too, haha.

There was plenty of parking space in front of the café, so we parked without any hassle.

Seats for families with kids and the second-floor outdoor terrace

On the Rail has high ceilings, which made the interior feel even more spacious. There were baby chairs too, so lots of guests with babies were there.

We visited on a nice weekend, and there were plenty of family groups. The interior was roomy and there were outdoor seats too. The tables were big and there were plenty of chairs, so it was great for group visits. We noticed a 2nd-floor outdoor terrace, so we went out to check it out.

Right past the floor-to-ceiling windows, you can see the train tracks.

We climbed the stairs up to the terrace on the 2nd floor. It had a wonderfully open, sweeping view.

Our family of five sat in a corner spot by the window. The lighting was unique and pretty.

On the Rail menu and prices

Here's On the Rail's menu board. The signature coffees were the einspänner and cream mocha. Prices ranged from ₩5,000 to ₩8,000, and the drink menu included coffee, lattes, ades, teas, and smoothies — quite varied. For kids, there was a Pororo drink.

What bread is on the bakery counter?

Mugwort rice cake salt bread, salt bread, azuki-butter croissant, butter croissant. On the Rail's bakery case had a wide variety of breads, though some were already sold out.

Mont blanc, garlic mont blanc, double choco bread.

Green onion cheese toast, long sausage bread. These looked great as a light meal too, so tasty-looking. 😋 We visited after a meal, so we picked out the azuki-butter croissant and salt bread for dessert, plus a bottle cake from the refrigerated showcase.

The crunchy rice-scorch bread (crungji) and the cute Pang Pang Man cookies caught my eye too!

The train sandwich cookie was a special item unique to On the Rail!

The drinks and desserts a family of five ordered

For drinks we chose a choco latte, iced Americano, iced café latte, and a Pororo drink.

The iced café latte was nutty and smooth.

Melon fruit bottle cake

The fruit bottle cake looked so delicious we had to pick it, and the melon was incredibly fresh. It was so sweet too! The whipped cream was soft and the sponge was moist, so the whole family enjoyed it.

Salt bread

The salt bread was eaten by my youngest and second child. They opened their mouths wide and — ahh! It was salt bread where you could really taste that distinctive salty flavor and rich butteriness.

Angbutter (red bean and butter) croissant

The azuki-butter croissant was a standout, with flaky pastry, rich buttery flavor, and sweet red bean paste. We cut it into bite-sized pieces and shared it happily.

The outdoor garden and photo zone at On the Rail

It felt like a waste to leave without a look around outside, so we walked the outdoor grounds too, haha. It was great for a stroll.

The landscaping was really lovely too. I bet it's gorgeous when the lights come on in the evening.

It's also a café popular for gatherings with friends, class reunions, and dates with a partner.

With the nice weather, the outdoor tables were popular too.

This is On the Rail's signature photo zone. My sisters and I took photos here three years ago, and it had been a while, so I took some again.
