The building looked newly built. There's parking in the basement, and you can register your car after your meal by giving them your plate number. The parking area is spacious with an easy flow, so it seems great for family meals too.

A weekday afternoon after booking on Naver: what the restaurant is like

I made a reservation through Naver before going. Even though it was past lunchtime, the tables were nearly full! Definitely a certified Gijang favorite — there were group diners as well as foreign customers.

The interior is very clean and simply well managed. The whole place is spacious, so it seems great for group dining too. They have high chairs! And there are window seats where you can look out at the Oshiria forest view.

Kkomak Hansang menu and how to order

Here's the Kkomak Hansang menu. Cockle bibimbap is the main dish, and the set meal (한상) with beef pancake, vinegared cockles, dried yellow corvina and various other side dishes is also quite popular. À la carte items are available too.

You order through a tablet at the table. On weekdays, the cockle bibimbap special also seems to draw a lot of people for its good value.

There's a Naver review event where you get a drink or rice puff snack. It's a perfect little treat to have after the meal, so definitely take part!

How many side dishes come with the beef pancake set for two?

The cockle bibimbap and beef pancake set arrived. Wow... look at the number of side dishes. My first shock was seeing the endless spread of food. As a huge fan of Korean food, this was truly the best spread for me.

Fried eggplant, seaweed soup, seasoned greens, acorn jelly — I felt like I could fill up on just the basic side dishes alone. It's a meal for two, but the table was completely full, side dishes piled high enough to make the table legs bend, haha.

The main dish, cockle bibimbap, also came with a huge amount of cockles. I wondered — can two people really finish all this?! The food was arranged so neatly that I thought it would be even better to come here with my parents.

How does the cockle bibimbap taste?

The cockles at Kkomak Hansang Gijang Main Branch were genuinely plump and already fully shelled, so they were easy to eat. The sauce wasn't overly strong, seasoned just right, and tasted amazing mixed into the rice. There's also golden, freshly cooked beef pancake and green onion salad to go with it.

It's delicious wrapped with perilla leaves and the bibimbap, and also delicious with the vinegared cockles — a completely different flavor from the bibimbap. The vinegared cockles were sweet, sour and spicy, waking up the appetite. Beyond just the bibimbap, having so many different cockle dishes was really satisfying.

What is the beef pancake (yukjeon) like?

I can't resist a savory beef pancake. Golden-cooked beef pancake ♥ — the meat inside was so soft it melted in my mouth. The beef pancake meat was so tender and moist to eat, it was so good. This place is a pancake champ too... ♥ My second shock was finding out everything besides the cockles was delicious too.

You have to eat the beef pancake and cockles together, no question. Double the texture, double the flavor. The plumpness of the cockles and the softness of the beef pancake went so well together. Everything I ate was just delicious — I was genuinely moved, haha.

Which side dishes are worth ordering again?

The six kinds of seasoned greens and salads were really neat and lovely. Especially those pickles and the lotus root sauce — genuinely delicious. You have to have seconds.

Fried eggplant and pollack pancake, two of my favorites. With that golden fried smell, the batter was crispy and the food's natural texture came through — really tasty.

Every single side dish had great quality and felt made with care — it was a meal that made you feel pampered. My friend, who I recommended this place to, also thoroughly enjoyed the meal.

Is Kkomak Hansang good for a family meal out?

The restrooms are inside the restaurant, separated by gender. The whole place is just clean, plain and simple.

Recommended for anyone who wants to enjoy a hearty Korean meal with lots of tasty side dishes. There are plenty of places selling cockle bibimbap, but not many that do it well. To think there's a hidden gem like this in Gijang — I got to enjoy it so happily and deliciously. Next time I'd love to bring my parents and my whole family. A revisit is a definite 100%.
