Last time I had cockles and mackerel and loved them, so I came back to Bomseol, a hanjeongsik (Korean set-meal) spot in Gwangju, Gyeonggi that's great for family meals, to try something different this time! Last visit was for lunch, but this time I came for dinner :-)

Bomseol menu and prices: what we ordered

At Bomseol we ordered Myeongin Barley Gulbi (₩27,000) and Bulbeombeok pork stir-fry (₩20,000), one serving each. Last time there was no Bomseol Han-sang set on the menu — guess it's new! But it required a minimum of two servings, and since I wanted to try dishes I hadn't had yet from the single-serving options, I skipped the han-sang for next time and ordered the barley gulbi and pork stir-fry instead +_+

Since we came with the baby, they set up a baby chair for us^_ㅠ but the baby fell asleep =_+ so we pushed two chairs together for a makeshift bed and mom and I wolfed down our meal lol

Inside Bomseol on a weekday evening

We went late on a weekday evening so it was quiet, though customers kept trickling in even at that hour..! True to its reputation as a family-meal spot, most of the guests were families haha

Last time we sat in a corner spot and didn't even know there was barley bibimbap@.,@ but this time it was right there, so I decided to try it..!

Bomseol's self-bar lets you take as many banchan (side dishes) as you want, so mom went back for seconds of the fried eggplant and perilla leaves, saying they were delicious lol

It's been a while since I had barley rice — somehow it tasted extra good>.<

And then out came the full Bomseol hanjeongsik spread, a great family-meal restaurant in Gwangju!

The hot-pot rice needed a bit more time, so we waited for it before digging in together lol

The barley gulbi came already deboned like this, which was so nice lol — there were still some big bones here and there, but having the fish broken down like this ahead of time made it much easier to eat +_+ It had been ages since I'd had barley gulbi lol, and with a hint of smoky char on it, it tasted even better!

Bomseol's barley gulbi is meant to be eaten by pouring green tea over warm rice and mixing it in like this!

Add a little of the gochujang (red chili paste) that comes alongside, and take a bite ㅇㅏ-'ㅇ'* Even I, who don't usually like fish for its fishy taste, enjoyed this Myeongin Barley Gulbi at Bomseol, a great family-meal spot in Gwangju!

If the barley gulbi is salty and savory, then switching over to the spicy bulbeombeok pork stir-fry and back again was absolutely delicious lol

Bomseol's hot-pot rice came freshly made too, and it was so delicious ㅠ3ㅠ

I prefer nurungji (scorched rice), so once they poured water in lol — the pot was so hot the water suddenly boiled up and startled me lol. I'd recommend leaving the lid slightly open.

A day of eating way too much with mom for dinner! Once again, a satisfying visit to Bomseol, a great family-meal restaurant in Gwangju^.^
