Hagosudong Beach noodle restaurant on Udo, Jeju: Seomsonai set

Today I'm writing up my review of 'Seomsonai Udo Main Branch,' a spot I visited during my Jeju trip's Udo Island itinerary. Eating seafood jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) and pizza made with Udo specialties while looking out at Hagosudong Beach's ocean view made it taste even better!

Seomsonai Udo Main Branch: hours and how to find it

Seomsonai Udo Main Branch is located right in front of Hagosudong Beach, open 10:00 - 17:00 with last order at 16:30. Closed on days when the ferry doesn't run.

My sister and I visited around 10:30 and only one other table was occupied, so we got an ocean-view seat! In the photo the sun was still a bit strong at that spot. After 11am more tourists showed up and a wait started forming!

Inside Seomsonai and the ocean-view seats at Hagosudong Beach

Inside Seomsonai, besides the ocean-view seats there are also 4-person tables and baby chairs available! It looked great not just for couples but for families too. I really recommend the seat where you can look straight at the ocean view — you can also sit facing each other here.

Uniquely, Seomsonai uses mojaban and tot, Udo specialties, in the jjamppong noodles, pizza dough, and toppings too, apparently!

We ordered the basic Ujjam Sosom set! We picked the basic ujjam flavor plus sosom pizza. But when the staff member brought over the order menu, they suddenly asked if I wanted the Chinese-language menu, which threw me off haha — maybe because my sister was wearing red pants?

They gave us kimchi and pickled radish as basic side dishes!

Our order arrived! It was way more filling than I expected, honestly haha. Good thing my sister has a big appetite for how much food there was.

Sosom pizza is a mild, thin-crust pizza topped with pineapple, tomato, and peanuts. At Udo restaurant Seomsonai, sosom pizza was the ultimate soft, mellow dish for cooling down after the spicy jjamppong! They said the dough uses tot too, but the flavor wasn't strong at all. It especially paired well with that white sauce — it had a slightly creamy taste, and I kept dipping it in that sauce over and over!!

Ujjamppong: three shrimp, two abalone, squid and mussels

The ujjamppong with seafood, mojaban, and tot arrived. Three shrimp, squid and mussels galore, and even two abalone — practically an emperor-level jjamppong!!!!

They said tot goes into the noodles too, as well as on top, and the noodle color was a bit unusual! Kind of brownish...? With a bit of a sheen. The tot and mojaban flavor wasn't overpowering in either the noodles or the broth, so even my picky sister ate it without any hesitation!!

Look at all that seafood — there was more seafood than noodles honestly! Everything was huge and delicious. There was a pile of squid underneath too! With all the tot and mojaban on top I expected an overly 'healthy' taste, but it was really just a clean, well-made jjamppong. I wish I'd ordered it a bit spicier though. Since the pizza is thin, if two people eat it there's a bit of pizza left over, so it seemed like a good amount for 2-3 people.

Is Seomsonai Udo Main Branch worth it? Final verdict

I thought using Udo specialties in the jjamppong and pizza would give it this really 'healthy' taste, but nope, not at all. It was just clean and light-tasting and delicious!!! My sister and I both picked it as the best jjamppong we've had in a while.

I noticed groups usually come, order the set plus cream jjamppong, and it looked so good that now I'm curious about the cream jjamppong too!!!! Getting to Udo isn't easy, but once you're there it's such a great spot — I regretted not visiting sooner, and now I finally have a go-to restaurant for every time I visit Udo haha. If you're visiting Udo, I recommend Seomsonai, an Udo restaurant that serves various jjamppong and pizza using Udo specialties tot and mojaban, with Hagosudong Beach right in front of you.
