Gwacheon duck BBQ with an 18-month-old, marble ice cream: Deo Chadol
In short
Deo Chadol is a duck BBQ restaurant near Seonbawi Station in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi. After a day at Seoul Land and the Seoul Grand Park Zoo, the writer stopped in with an 18-month-old for the couple course — duck chadol (brisket-cut duck), duck jumulleok (sweet-spicy stir-fry) and fried rice — and found baby chairs wiped down with wet wipes, plus marble ice cream for dessert. The mild duck chadol made this the meal the baby ate best at on any recent night out.

It's been a while since I took my baby out to Seoul Land and the Seoul Grand Park Zoo in Gwacheon haha. Afterward I went looking for a good restaurant nearby that would work with a baby, and found this duck restaurant — let me introduce Deo Chadol!!

Where is Deo Chadol, and is there parking? 10 minutes from Seoul Land
Deo Chadol is near Seonbawi Station in Gwacheon. It's just 10 minutes from Seoul Land haha. There's plenty to eat inside Seoul Grand Park too... but we wanted something a bit healthier and tastier! And the parking area was spacious so it was easy to park haha. The staff guiding parking were friendly too!!

I found out it was featured on the KBS show Baedalwasuda as a restaurant recommended by actor Ryu Seung-ryong! So it's a duck restaurant that Lee Young-ja and Kim Sook also really enjoyed haha. It's also been featured on SBS's Live Today!!

Seated right away on a weekend: Deo Chadol's hall and group room
The main hall at Deo Chadol is spacious, so we got seated right away even on a weekend, and the room in the back is big too — great duck restaurant for group gatherings!

What's in the Deo Chadol couple course?
We ordered the Deo Chadol couple course, going from duck chadol to duck jumulleok (spicy stir-fry) and finishing with fried rice haha. Doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) comes with it too!! You can swap it for another soup haha. The duck chadol isn't spicy so it seemed great to share with the baby~ We grilled up the duck chadol and gave most of it to the baby, planning to focus on the duck jumulleok ourselves!!!

The duck chadol came out first haha. I've only ever had beef chadol, so this was my first time trying duck chadol! Duck is good for you, so I thought — great choice haha.

The vegetables that come with it — onion, mushroom, minari (water dropwort) — are also great to share with a baby~ They get stir-fried together in the duck fat haha.

What is Deo Chadol like with an 18-month-old baby?
Oh, and they wiped the baby chair down with baby wet wipes and it was kept really clean, which made me trust the place even more! A restaurant that clearly cares about babies haha.
They start grilling the duck chadol sizzling away haha. As the duck fat renders down it stir-fries the vegetables~

Deliciously cooked duck chadol! The baby tore into it happily haha. Because it's chadol it's thin and tender, so even an 18-month-old ate it well!! We've recently started eating out with the baby and usually give her pork or beef, but since it had been a while since duck, she ate the most and the happiest she has in a while haha. Which made me even more glad we came!!

Sweet-spicy duck jumulleok and the add-ins to order
And now they stir-fry the sweet and spicy duck jumulleok for the adults haha. Just looking at that red color makes my mouth water.....
It also comes loaded with add-ins like rice cake and sweet potato, making it even more filling and delicious haha.

It's basically a dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken) base, but with duck instead of chicken! The sauce was so good, I thought — glad we came haha.

Finishing with fried rice and marble ice cream
And of course, fried rice can't be skipped!! They make fried rice with the leftover sauce after everything's eaten haha. We had them stir-fry it while there was still a bit of sauce left~

The duck fried rice is done haha. The portion was pretty big too, so we were quite full even without ordering extra rice~

For the final dessert... there's also marble ice cream haha. If your baby loves marble ice cream... this would be great for keeping dessert on hand!! Truly a baby-friendly restaurant haha. If you're visiting Seoul Land or the Gwacheon Racecourse in Gwacheon, be sure to try the delicious duck at Deo Chadol near Seonbawi Station♥
