Jeonpo Café Street gukbap restaurant with karaage: Sanbandeul, Busan
In short
Sanbandeul Pork Gukbap, Seomyeon Jeonpo Café Street Main Branch is a pork gukbap (pork and rice soup) restaurant on the main strip of Jeonpo Café Street in Busanjin, Busan, fitted out like a ramen shop. The writer ordered the signature Sanbandeul pork gukbap, milmyeon (cold wheat noodles), bibim milmyeon and a side of karaage: the bowl topped with noodles and egg looked exactly like ramen, and the karaage was the surprise hit. Today I'm writing up my visit to Sanbandeul Pork Gukbap, Seomyeon Jeonpo Café Street Main Branch — a Seomyeon gukbap spot that's super hot right now.

Busan has so many hot gukbap places, but this one might be the most distinctive of them all — Sanbandeul Pork Gukbap, Seomyeon Jeonpo Café Street Main Branch. Let's get into it~
Where is Sanbandeul Pork Gukbap on Jeonpo Café Street, and what are the hours?

Sanbandeul Pork Gukbap is right on the main street of Jeonpo Café Street, so it's a perfect stop after a coffee at one of the cafés. When I typed the address into Naver Maps, the unexpectedly hip old-school exterior threw me off, so I double-checked I had the right place, haha.

There's a menu board out front, and true to its status as a 'good price' designated restaurant, the prices are really reasonable!! You can get a trendy, hearty bowl of gukbap for under ₩10,000!!
What's on the menu at Sanbandeul Pork Gukbap?
At first glance, the photos of Sanbandeul's gukbap look like ramen — the visuals are seriously impressive. There are four main gukbap options: Sanbandeul Pork Gukbap / Spicy Pork Gukbap / Bone Broth Pork Gukbap / Miso Pork Gukbap, plus affordable set menus with fried chicken, char-grilled suyuk (boiled pork), homemade fried chicken, or wang mandu (king dumplings) added on.
There's also a summer-only menu of milmyeon and bibim milmyeon (spicy mixed wheat noodles).
A gukbap restaurant that looks like a ramen shop: is it good for solo dining?

Walking inside, I couldn't help but blurt out — wait, this is really a gukbap place?

The tables are set up individually, just like at a Japanese ramen shop, so you can enjoy a hearty bowl of gukbap in a clean, orderly atmosphere.

There's a bit more seating further inside, but the total number of tables isn't huge, so if you want to avoid waiting, I'd recommend going early!

I ordered at the kiosk and sat down.

Once seated, they brought out dressed chives and kimchi! Water is already set up at the table.

Sanbandeul pork gukbap: ramen looks, pork soup taste
WOW, is this really what comes out of a gukbap place!!! It totally nails that hot ramen-shop look~~ This was the dish I was most looking forward to! Even the broth had a ramen-like color, and with noodles and egg on top, it was a seriously hearty combination.

Honestly, if I'm ever tempted to go get some so-so ramen, I'm going to Sanbandeul instead. The broth isn't your typical pork broth — it has this deep umami that's incredible, and apparently it's made by simmering domestic pork bone and various vegetables for over 40 hours every day. I couldn't believe such an amazing hidden gem existed so quietly. If you go to Sanbandeul, you absolutely have to try the Sanbandeul Pork Gukbap!!

Cold milmyeon noodles and the sliced pork on top
After finishing the hot Sanbandeul Pork Gukbap, I tried the cool milmyeon — wait, is naengmyeon supposed to taste this good too? Is this really a gukbap place, lol.

It's the same meat used in the Sanbandeul gukbap, but it seemed to be cut a bit thicker here. And it's not the usual head meat — it's carefully selected pork neck and shoulder, cooked jambon-style so it's tender, with zero gamey smell and maximum tenderness!!

Karaage, the surprise star side dish
The unexpectedly amazing dish — karaage. Gukbap-wise, get the Sanbandeul Pork Gukbap; side-wise, karaage is a must!!!

The karaage had juicy chicken thigh meat and a crispy, savory coating that was so good. Dipping it in the sauce that came with it made me want to applaud, honestly.

Wang mandu (king dumplings) from the review event
This was the wang mandu (king dumplings) I got for taking part in the review event!

The dumplings were packed so full of filling — seriously delicious~~

Bibim milmyeon: spicy cold noodles
At first glance it looks like milmyeon, but this is actually bibim milmyeon!! Noticeably more sauce and noticeably less broth!!

I'm usually a mul-naengmyeon (cold broth noodles) person, but Sanbandeul's bibim milmyeon isn't too heavily seasoned, so today the bibim milmyeon actually tasted better to me haha. On top of the meat, there are even quail eggs, so the protein game is fully covered!
Would we go back to Sanbandeul Pork Gukbap?

At Sanbandeul Seomyeon Jeonpo Café Street Main Branch, I got to experience a new side of gukbap while still keeping that classic gukbap vibe. Between the taste and the prices being this reasonable, there's no way I wouldn't come back!! 100% repeat visit intent!!
