Solo-friendly café in Uijeongbu with three cakes to go: Forerest
In short
Forerest is a large forest-themed café on Nogyang-ro in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi, open daily from 11:00 to 24:00. Visiting alone just after lunch on a weekday, the writer ordered an iced americano with one black sesame cake and two chocolate cakes, then boxed up the chocolate cake she could not finish. Even on a fourth visit, Forerest was still an easy Uijeongbu café for resting alone.

These days when I pick a café, the atmosphere of the space matters just as much to me as how the coffee tastes. With that in mind, there's a Uijeongbu café I personally love — Forerest. This was already my fourth visit, and it's not a place you go once and forget; it's the kind of spot that pops back into my head whenever I need a break. What I love especially is that, true to its name, the moment you step in, it feels like you've walked into a forest.
Where is Forerest and what are its hours?
Forerest is located at 181 Nogyang-ro, Uijeongbu-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. It's open daily from 11:00 to 24:00, and parking is available.
A forest feel from the entrance onward

Can you feel that autumn-ish vibe starting right from the entrance? It's aesthetic and pretty, but this isn't a café that only cares about looks — the taste and the atmosphere both deliver.

There are also seats where up to 10 people can sit facing each other.

This is Forerest's menu board — the cakes are famous here! Last time I tried the milk tea and it was delicious too~

Above all, the biggest reason I love Forerest isn't flashy interior design — it's the way the place blends in with nature.

Does this big Uijeongbu café feel comfortable alone on a weekday?
This time I stopped by alone on a weekday. I figured it'd be a bit quiet just after lunch, but there were more people than I expected — I guess a place I love, other people love too, haha. Still, since Forerest is a spacious, large-scale Uijeongbu café, even with a crowd the space itself never feels stuffy. It stretches well beyond the indoor seating into the outdoor space too, so on a nice day it's great to have a coffee outside. Looking at the green trees and the open space, even just for a moment, it makes me feel like I've stepped outside my daily routine. That's why it's the place I think of when I want to sit quietly with a coffee by myself.

It really does feel like being in a huge park.

Three cakes for one: Forerest's black sesame and chocolate
Since I was visiting alone that day, I ordered one iced americano. And of course, once at Forerest, there was no way I could skip the cake. What I ordered was:
- Iced americano
- 1 black sesame cake
- 2 chocolate cakes
That's what I ordered. It does look like more than one person could reasonably eat, lol, but the cakes here are so good that's exactly what happened.

Forerest is honestly a café I want to come back to just for the cake. The black sesame cake I tried that day had that distinct nutty black sesame flavor, which paired really well with coffee, and the chocolate cake is worth trying at least once if you're a chocolate person. I actually ordered two chocolate cakes that day, but partway through I realized I couldn't finish the second one, so I packed it up and took it home. I ended up being the person who shows up alone at a café and orders multiple cakes, but hey — if it's delicious, you can just bring it home and eat it again, lol. Eating the packed-up cake at home later gave me that extra little bit of happiness.

The coffee had a nice touch of acidity, and since I like a strong, bold style, I appreciated that it was on the strong side.

The chocolate cake is sweet, of course, but paired with an americano it's an absolutely perfect match.

A late-night Uijeongbu café open until midnight
There are actually quite a few large-scale cafés in Uijeongbu. But I don't think Forerest is a place you keep coming back to just because it's 'a big café.' What I loved was that the spacious layout naturally incorporates a forest-and-garden feel, so you get to enjoy the atmosphere itself the whole time you're there. Especially sipping coffee while looking out at the green scenery through the window definitely gives you that sense of taking a real break. I've come here with my kid before, but coming alone for a cup of coffee like this was surprisingly nice too.
And there's another perk to Forerest: it's open until midnight! With hours of daily 11:00–24:00, it's also a fine option for getting coffee late after dinner. So I think of it as a café for enjoying that lush green forest vibe during the day, and as a relaxed Uijeongbu late-night café for chatting in the evening. Since the daytime and nighttime moods must feel pretty different, I'd like to visit in the evening next time.

Forerest satisfied me again this time. Even on my fourth visit, it still feels comfortable every single time, so I guess I really do love this place. With its spacious layout that captures a forest feeling so naturally, I think it's less a spot just for coffee and more a café to visit when you want to take a short breather. And if you love cake, don't just drink coffee — make sure to order dessert too. Like me, if there's extra, just pack it up and eat it again at home, haha. If you're looking for a good-atmosphere large café in Uijeongbu, or a late-night café open into the evening, I'd recommend Forerest again. I'm guessing there'll be a fifth visit too. 🌿☕️
