Masan Korean restaurant with an 11-banchan set meal: Yun Sikdang

In short

Yun Sikdang is a Korean restaurant on Bukseong-ro near Bukmasan Furniture Street in Masan, Changwon, serving a single menu: the grilled bulgogi (seokswoe bulgogi) set meal. Arriving just after 1pm on a weekend, there was one group ahead and the wait was five minutes, and the table came with 11 banchan (side dishes) — including mung bean sprouts, marinated abalone and seasoned raw crab — plus grilled bulgogi, kimchi pancake, grilled mackerel and doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew). Yun Sikdang is a good pick for a day when you want a tidy, generous Korean meal without deciding what to order.

Where to park at Yun Sikdang: 2 minutes from the Bukmasan Furniture Street public lot

Yun Sikdang has no dedicated parking lot, but you can park across the street at the Bukmasan Furniture Street public parking lot.

The lot and the restaurant are about 2 minutes apart across the street! Really close 🙂

Weekend lunch just after 1pm: one group ahead, seated in 5 minutes

Yun Sikdang draws enough diners to have waiting chairs both outside and inside the restaurant.

Please note the hours and closed day :)

When waiting, you write your name on a list and they call you in order. I visited just after 1pm on a weekend, and with only one group ahead of me, I was seated within 5 minutes.

The interior, packed with diners. I took this shot again as things thinned out near the end of my meal haha.

The tables had vinyl tablecloths like at a raw fish restaurant, and they thoughtfully had hair ties ready, which made eating comfortable haha. Baby chairs and bibs were also available :)

Yun Sikdang's menu: the grilled bulgogi set meal and nothing else

⬆️ The menu board. Yun Sikdang, a Masan restaurant that only sells the grilled bulgogi set meal 🙂 When there are too many menu options I end up agonizing over what to order, but with a single menu there was nothing to choose — which made things easy.

No need to think about what to eat — you just sit down and eat the grilled bulgogi set, which also makes it great for a quick lunch :) The additional items listed below were paid add-ons among the basic side dishes already included.

Since they only sell the single grilled bulgogi set, there's nothing to order — you just tell them the number of people and the table setting is prepared right away.

So absolutely no switching seats~!

Besides the basic side dishes, the other dishes are cooked to order as soon as you order, so it may take a little time 🙂

I thought it might take a while, but the food actually came out faster than expected.

  • Japchae (glass noodle stir-fry)

  • Marinated abalone (jeonbokjang)

I haven't even gotten to the main dishes yet, and I could already polish off a whole bowl of rice on the side dishes alone lol. The side dishes were also well-suited to eating alongside the main dishes, so it was fun picking a bit of this and that.

The mains: grilled bulgogi, kimchi pancake, grilled mackerel and doenjang jjigae

Fresh lettuce wraps, peppers and garlic, and ssamjang (dipping sauce) also came out, along with the main dishes: grilled bulgogi, kimchi pancake, grilled mackerel, and doenjang jjigae.

Bubbling away, savory and delicious — starting with the doenjang jjigae.

Doenjang jjigae bubbling at Yun Sikdang

How did they grill it this thin? My beloved kimchi pancake 😋

The mackerel felt less like a grilled fish and more like a fried one? Extremely crispy.

And the main of mains — grilled bulgogi (석쇠불고기) with a subtle smoky char that comes through with every bite 💚 Yun Sikdang's table setting was so plentiful I didn't know what to eat first 😊

Best side dishes at Yun Sikdang: marinated abalone, seasoned eggplant, young radish water kimchi

First, the precious marinated abalone over a bite of white rice~ chewy, no fishy smell, not too salty — a perfect rice side dish haha.

And among all the side dishes, the one that really hit my palate: the seasoned eggplant! Seasoned just right, not mushy, still with good texture~

And the tangy, well-fermented water kimchi with young radish greens that I kept reaching for.

A thick cut of grilled mackerel

Crispy without any fishy taste, and a great match with white rice — the thick cut of mackerel 😊

Smoky grilled bulgogi placed on a lettuce leaf

Wrapping the smoky grilled bulgogi in lettuce makes it doubly delicious ✌️ I do like the juicier, saucier style of bulgogi too, but personally I prefer this style grilled dry without broth, so I really enjoyed it.

Pairing warm rice with one side dish after another, a whole bowl of rice disappears before you know it haha. A hearty, well-set Masan set-meal restaurant worth visiting on a day you want a good meal without any menu-agonizing — Yun Sikdang ❣️
