Where is Siznique in Daegu Shinsegae, and where do you park?
Today, for my husband's birthday, I visited Siznique Shinsegae Department Store Daegu Branch, a Daegu cake shop near Dong Daegu Station. I'd walked past it before and noticed they sell fig cake! I parked in the basement and headed to the basement 1F food hall :)
How to reserve a Siznique cake and what each size costs
You can reserve cakes in advance at Siznique cake shop near Dong Daegu Station. Their signature Warreu Cake can be reserved via Naver Reservation, and other cakes can be reserved by phone. The call quality wasn't great though, so the line kept cutting out ㅠㅠ. Still, I'm glad I could reserve!
In particular, the fig cake I ordered ends once summer season is over, so now that fall is coming, it'll soon be hard to find!
All the flavors are fruit-based, so they change with the season. There's fig, mango, peach, mixed fruit, strawberry, red hyang citrus, pineapple, melon, watermelon, and more! For pricing, mini cakes are cheaper, the one we ordered was ₩35,000, the next size up is ₩48,000, and the Warreu Cake was around ₩60,000s!
Which cakes were in the Siznique display case
There were many different kinds of cakes at Siznique Shinsegae Department Store Daegu Branch.
First up, their signature is the Warreu Cake, available in peach, fig, or mango. In the photo above, the one on the left is the Warreu and the one on the right is different — you can tell right away the design is different, right?
What stood out about the mango cake was a sign noting how many whole mangoes went into it — you could tell just by looking that there were a lot in there, which made me so happy haha
Since these are perishable foods that need freshness, exchanges and refunds aren't possible, so I recommend eating them quickly!
Next to it they also sell candles, so if you need any, it's worth picking some up. You can buy pretty candles, but basic candles come included for free. We didn't buy extra and were able to get the right number for my husband's age.
They gave us plenty of both big and small candles, which was nice!
The honey vanilla fig cake, 35,000 won
I reserved the fig cake that my husband loves. When I asked a week ahead, they checked whether figs would be available that day and told me it was possible.
The cake we reserved was the Honey Vanilla Fig Cake!
What I especially liked was that fig cakes usually come with yogurt cream, but this one had vanilla cream instead, which was great.
Just counting the visible figs, there must have been at least 10 — that's what my husband and I said to each other haha
Since it was his birthday, we stuck in the candles and sang happy birthday~
When I cut into the cake, there were tons of figs inside too. It was packed full, with no gaps at all.
The vanilla was really rich too, and the cream was so delicious. According to my husband, it was the best fig cake he's ever had haha. He said there wasn't the usual bitterness that figs have, just sweetness~ I don't usually love figs that much myself, but I really enjoyed Siznique's cake.
Tips before you order at Siznique
If you're heading to Siznique Shinsegae Department Store Daegu Branch, the Daegu cake shop near Dong Daegu Station, I recommend reserving the cake you want in advance. Weekends get really busy, so if you don't reserve ahead, the cake you want might already be sold out!
Why this Siznique cake suited a two-person household
There are so many places selling fig cake in Daegu, but the prices are surprisingly high. Cakes that are too big and too expensive can feel like a burden, and since we're a two-person household, we wouldn't even be able to finish a huge one! It was so nice to get a delicious, reasonably priced cake with that upscale department store feel :) I hope you get to pick up a delicious cake at Siznique Shinsegae Department Store Daegu Branch near Dong Daegu Station too ><
