Hwaseong meat restaurant with floor seating and yukhoe: Morakmorak

In short

Morakmorak Jeongyuk Sikdang Namyang Hwaseong City Hall Main Branch is a butcher-shop-style meat restaurant on Yeokgol-jungang-ro in Namyang-eup, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi. A three-generation family booked a floor-seating table through Naver, picked galbisal (rib finger meat), pork neck and pork belly for charcoal pre-grilling, and got yukhoe (beef tartare), tacos and mook (acorn jelly) soup with the 5,000-won table charge, plus unlimited bone-broth ramyeon. The pork neck alone at Morakmorak is reason enough to return.

Bad cold... fled to my parents' place.... I was flattened by a cold, but after one solid night's sleep my condition came back like a miracle!! I figured the whole family — mom, dad, and the kid — should go eat something good together, so I searched for good restaurants around Namyang and stumbled onto this place: Morakmorak Jeongyuk Sikdang.

Honestly I went in with zero expectations... and this turned out to be a total plot twist!! I was genuinely shocked there was a hidden gem like this in Namyang 🙈

Where is Morakmorak Jeongyuk Sikdang in Namyang-eup, and what does it look like?

Morakmorak Jeongyuk Sikdang is a meat restaurant at 70 Yeokgol-jungang-ro, Namyang-eup, Hwaseong-si. From the outside I figured it was just an ordinary restaurant.

Exterior of Morakmorak Jeongyuk Sikdang decorated with a green plant wall

The exterior is decorated with a green plant wall, and a sign about a water-aging ice-temperature aging chamber caught my eye, but honestly I never imagined it would be this spacious inside. The moment we opened the door, I genuinely gasped "whoa?!" haha. Who knew there was such a huge meat restaurant in Namyang!!

Parking and Naver reservations at Morakmorak — leave a note if you bring kids

Morakmorak Jeongyuk Sikdang has a spacious private parking lot right in front, so parking was zero trouble!! We reserved ahead through Naver and the table was set up perfectly when we arrived.

I strongly recommend leaving a note about bringing children when you book! They seated us in a floor area where you take your shoes off — a relaxed enough space that a kid could conk out mid-meal 😂

Inside Morakmorak: a green wall and a serving robot

Step inside Morakmorak Jeongyuk Sikdang and you really do gasp. A whole wall covered in a green wall, neon signs, and generously spaced tables. There's even a serving robot running around, which made it even more surreal!!

Inside there's a confident sign reading "the real butchers' meat room, more than 20 years in the business" — and only after eating did I realize they meant it.

Picking your own meat from the butcher fridge

Now, the heart of this place!! You go pick your own meat at the fridge. One side is beef, the other pork, and rows of cuts that have gone through water-aging and ice-temperature aging are on display.

Shrimp meat cut, flat iron, galbisal, square sirloin, eye of round, and even a jaw-dropping tomahawk!! Inside the fridge there was even a sign that read "grilling a tomahawk is skill, eating it is happiness" haha.

This time we picked three: galbisal, pork neck, and pork belly. The tomahawk... we decided to save for next time!! We're definitely coming back for it 😤 Once you hand over your chosen meat to the owner, he pre-grills it himself at a separate charcoal grill station!!

How does Morakmorak's charcoal pre-grilling service work?

At Morakmorak Jeongyuk Sikdang, the owner personally pre-grills and slices the meat himself, and the whole process is a total performance!!

Watching him slice away smoothly on the thick cutting board was strangely exciting and made me even hungrier haha. He brought the galbisal out first, then the pork neck and pork belly followed in turn.

Pork neck, galbisal and pork belly — the best pork neck we've had

All three — galbisal, pork neck, and pork belly — were delicious, but the pork neck was truly on another level!! I'd never had pork neck this tender and juicy before.

It's usually hard for pork neck to outshine pork belly, right? But here, this pork neck is genuinely the best pork neck of my life. The galbisal and pork belly were both excellent too, nothing lacking, but personally I'd push you hard to try the pork neck especially!!

What comes with the 5,000-won table charge?

The table charge at Morakmorak Jeongyuk Sikdang is ₩5,000 per adult, excluding children and middle/high school students. Honestly, when I first heard "₩5,000 table charge," I hesitated a bit.

But once I saw what got set on the table, I was like "wait, is this even legal??" All the usual side dishes, plus mook salad (acorn jelly salad), doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), a taco set, and even beef tartare!!

Yukhoe (beef tartare) — our child's very first taste

The beef tartare included in the table charge is genuinely fresh and delicious!! Our kid tried yukhoe for the very first time in their life and was shocked, saying "yukhoe tastes this good?!" haha. Mixed with the egg yolk it's really something!!

Tacos and the sauce bar at Morakmorak

One of Morakmorak's special touches is the tacos!! Grilled meat on a tortilla with guacamole, salsa, and cheese sauce — the combination was genuinely fresh and delicious.

The sauce bar is stocked with fresh wasabi, cilantro, soy sauce, sriracha mayo, garlic dip, guacamole, and salsa — plenty of options to mix and match depending on your taste!

What's on the self-serve bar

Morakmorak Jeongyuk Sikdang's self-serve bar is packed with things that go perfectly with the meat: wrap greens, shredded scallions, marinated onion, mountain garlic leaves (myeongi-namul), and bracken fern.

Put bracken on top of the meat, add some mountain garlic leaves, wrap it with scallions... and honestly you can't stop your chopsticks haha.

Unlimited bone-broth ramyeon refills

Right when we felt like we were about to burst... we found out that the bone-broth ramyeon at Morakmorak Jeongyuk Sikdang is free.

Jin Ramen cooked in bone broth

It's ramyeon made with genuine Korean beef bone broth, simmered for a whopping 48 hours and then chilled for another 48 hours to remove the fat!! One pack of Jin Ramen with 500ml of bone broth per serving!! We first cooked a mild Jin Ramen for our kid, which disappeared instantly. Then two spicy packs for the adults... we ended up eating until we were completely stuffed ㅠㅠ It was genuinely hard to walk out of there haha.

Naver review gift: Sangha Farm soft serve ice cream

After finishing the meal, there was a note that writing a Naver review gets you a free Sangha Farm soft serve!!

Sangha Farm soft serve received for a review event

Honestly at first I figured it was just a throwaway dessert scoop... but it was genuinely delicious!! A smooth, nutty soft serve made with fresh milk — I seriously considered buying another one with my own money 🍦 Factor that in and the value here is just unbeatable.

Final verdict on Morakmorak in Hwaseong

From the reservation and table setup to the meat quality, the pre-grilling service, the table charge that includes tacos and beef tartare, the unlimited bone-broth ramyeon, and the ice cream dessert at the end — nothing was missing.

The pork neck alone is reason enough to come back!! Next visit, I'm booking the tomahawk for sure!! If you're coming to Namyang, I genuinely, highly recommend Morakmorak Jeongyuk Sikdang 🔥🔥🔥
