Gwangalli 7th-floor café with squid aglio olio: Working Holiday Minrak

In short

Working Holiday Minrak is a brunch café on the 7th floor of the Badamaru building in Suyeong-gu, Busan, looking out over Gwangan Bridge. On a Wednesday morning the writer ordered pistachio cream jambon pizza (25,000 won), squid aglio olio (20,000 won), cola and Terra draft beer at the kiosk and ate while watching the Gwangalli sea through the window. Because brunch, restaurant and café share one space, Working Holiday Minrak covers a meal and a coffee stop in a single stop on a Busan trip.

Where is Working Holiday Minrak, and what are the hours?

Working Holiday Minrak is at 29 Minrak-subyeon-ro, Suyeong-gu, Busan, South Korea, on the 7th floor of Badamaru. It's open daily from 09:00 to 22:30 with last order at 22:00, and parking is available in the underground lot behind the building.

7th-floor entrance of Working Holiday Minrak

The place is on the 7th floor of the building, and you order first at the kiosk right in front of the entrance before going in!

Gwangalli scenery visible right after getting off on the 7th floor

Whoa,, the moment I got off on the 7th floor, this amazing view.. is this really Korea...??? My heart was racing even before I went in .. ♥

Gwangalli ocean view seen through the café windows

The Gwangan Bridge ocean view from the 7th floor

The Gwangalli ocean view greets you the moment you walk in — that's the biggest strength of Working Holiday Minrak! Since it's on the 7th floor, once you step inside, the open windows give you a full view of the Gwangalli sea and Gwangan Bridge at once!

Gwangan Bridge seen straight ahead from the high floor

Seeing the sea up close in Gwangalli is nice, but looking down at the scenery from this height was really charming too. Especially if you get a seat facing the Gwangan Bridge directly, you keep glancing out the window even while eating...💙 It's also a great spot for photos during a Busan trip! There were even a few foreign guests at the tables, so I couldn't tell if I was in Korea or abroad!!

There were both indoor and terrace seats, and even though it was a weekday Wednesday, a lot of people were having brunch!!

What we ordered: pistachio cream jambon pizza and squid aglio olio

We ordered one pistachio cream jambon pizza (₩25,000), one squid aglio olio (₩20,000), one cola, and one Terra draft beer!!!!

Brunch table set with the ocean view outside the window

I've been to Busan many times, but why did I only just find out about this Working Holiday with such a fantastic view.. At least it's good I know now. I really want to make this a must-stop every time I come to Busan!!!!

Interior decorated with exotic decor pieces and lighting

A brunch café in Gwangalli that feels like a restaurant

Working Holiday Minrak doesn't feel like your typical small brunch café — more like brunch + restaurant + café all gathered in one space! The furniture, lighting, and little decor pieces are each arranged with such personality that it was fun just to look around the space!! The overall exotic atmosphere made it feel like a quick trip abroad, just like the name suggests!

Café space with distinctively arranged furniture

It's not really a place where you just eat brunch and rush out — the vibe is good for chatting over a coffee and taking your time watching the sea!! The window seats fill up fast since they're popular! But the space itself is really spacious, so no need to worry!

They also sell champagne, and it was fun just to browse! The decor is honestly so well done...

What more can I say.. the review.. this flavor.... honestly.. eat your heart out, overseas trips...

Terrace seats and the night view over Gwangalli

And on a nice day, I'd recommend the terrace seats too! The Gwangalli view from indoors and the view you get outside while actually feeling the sea breeze are totally different experiences! On a cool day, sitting on the terrace with a cup of coffee would really make you feel like you're on a trip to Busan!!!

We visited in the morning so we didn't get to see the nighttime vibe, but in the evening you can apparently also see the Gwangan Bridge lit up, which sounds like a great date spot! Next time I visit Busan, I want to come in the evening for a glass of wine!!

How does the pistachio cream jambon pizza taste?

There's a pizza menu too, so it's great not just for brunch but for anyone wanting a proper meal! I finally got to try the pizza I'd only seen in photos and wanted so badly..!!!! My jambon beurre pizza wish came true!!!!!!!!!! ♥ It's genuinely so, so delicious, so if you go to Working Holiday, you have to try it!!! Highly, highly recommend

How am I supposed to resist this view with this visual......... seriously ㅜㅜㅜㅜ Thanks to this Working Holiday restaurant in Busan, I got some proper healing!

Plate of squid aglio olio pasta

Is the squid aglio olio too rich?

Eating the pasta together with the pizza doubled the flavor!!!! The pasta wasn't greasy either, and paired with the clams, the seasoning was just right and delicious!

Hotel-like interior atmosphere of the café

Looking at it like this, it even has a hotel vibe,, apparently they serve Naples-style pizza made daily with directly-fermented dough and fresh ingredients, Australian-style brunch, and specialty coffee from morning to evening!

Why Working Holiday Minrak is worth a stop on a Busan trip

Having a cup of coffee while looking out at the sea is the perfect little break during a trip! If your Busan itinerary is packed, instead of hunting down a separate restaurant and café, it might be nice to handle both a meal and a coffee break here at once!! Highly, highly recommend!!

Overall view of the Gwangalli ocean from Working Holiday Minrak

Being able to enjoy delicious food while looking out at the Gwangalli sea made Working Holiday Minrak a great place to unwind during a Busan trip💙 I've already bookmarked it as a spot I want to revisit for the Gwangalli sea view on my next Busan trip🌊🤍
