Izakaya near Seomyeon Station, Busan: Set A okonomiyaki at Teppan King
In short
Teppan King is a Japanese teppanyaki izakaya tucked into an alley right in front of Seomyeon Station in Busanjin, Busan. The order was Set A (special okonomiyaki and special yakisoba) with grilled seasoned cod cheeks, smashed cucumber in perilla oil, a Teppan King highball and soju — and the okonomiyaki was so good that a younger sibling nearby was called in for a second pan. With the owner's live teppan performance in front of you, Teppan King is an easy Seomyeon bar to claim as your regular hideout.

Bonha—!
Today I want to introduce a Japanese teppanyaki spot in Seomyeon, Busan, with total hideaway energy. It's a cozy little place where you get to watch flashy live teppan cooking right in front of you. It was so good I ended up emergency-calling my sibling to come eat mid-meal — this is my review of Teppan King!
Where is Teppan King, and what is the space like?

Teppan King is tucked in an alley right in front of Seomyeon Station. Perfect accessibility if you're looking for a Seomyeon Station izakaya, right? Even the exterior — warm wood tones, classic yellow window frames, and bright-colored lanterns — gives off this exotic little-back-alley-in-Japan feeling!

Open the door and a cozy atmosphere greets you. There's space for groups, so it's great for gatherings, and there are bar seats too, so it's also a good Seomyeon bar for solo drinking :)

Doesn't this look like the perfect hideaway vibe?

The interior is cute and full of little details too.
Teppan King menu and prices: what we ordered

Here's Teppan King's menu!
- Kobe-style wagyu flower steak — 100g, ₩30,000
- Fukuoka hormone grill (Korean beef large intestine 150g + small intestine 100g) — ₩19,000
- Special yakisoba & okonomiyaki (shrimp, squid, pork) — ₩15,000
Along with a range of teppan dishes, there's also plenty on the menu like hot pots and grilled items.

The drink menu is pretty varied too! We ordered:
- Set A (special okonomiyaki & special yakisoba)
- Grilled seasoned cod cheeks
- Perilla oil cucumber muchim
- Teppan King highball
- Soju
That's what we went with!
Set A: special okonomiyaki and special yakisoba
The moment our order went in, the owner started cooking at the big teppan grill — that sizzling sound, how am I supposed to hold back?
Watching him flip the spatula with flair, tossing vegetables, seafood, and noodles around, was genuinely so much fun to watch.

You could really feel the pro-level presence of a proper Japanese steak and teppan specialist.
Honestly, the wait was torture the whole time haha.
The owner's flashy moves... ♥

First up, the special yakisoba!
The special yakisoba had that irresistible sweet-and-salty special sauce loaded with pork, squid, and shrimp — plenty of fresh seafood. It came topped with a soft-yolk fried egg just waiting to be popped, and once you mixed it into the noodles, the balance of savoriness and saltiness was insane.

You can tell from one bite how good it is, right?

Especially eaten with the ginger served alongside — it cuts right through any richness, and you can just keep eating forever!
And then the okonomiyaki!
He piled on a generous heap of shredded cabbage and cracked the egg in between — I was so fascinated watching him crack an egg one-handed haha.
And finally, the finished okonomiyaki..!

The special okonomiyaki had a thick batter packed generously with ingredients, and the bonito flakes on top danced in the heat — crispy outside, moist inside, exactly as it should be.
The very first bite made it too good to keep to just the two of us, so I immediately called in a sibling who was nearby to order another round..! My sibling took a bite and raved that it was the best teppanyaki in Seomyeon (especially the yakisoba... the best...).
Highball and soju with teppanyaki at Teppan King

A cold highball and the complimentary pickled cabbage! Not overpowering, just crisp cabbage — pair it with the teppanyaki and a sip of highball and stress just melts away..!

And the extra soju we ordered!
Best extra dishes: grilled seasoned cod cheeks and smashed cucumber in perilla oil

We were so satisfied with the okonomiyaki and yakisoba that we got carried away and ordered extra side dishes and snacks. Thinking they'd pair really well with soju, we picked perilla oil cucumber muchim and grilled seasoned cod cheeks as extras! The cucumber muchim isn't knife-cut — the cucumbers are smashed and cracked, then tossed with nutty perilla oil and a special sauce. The crunchy texture and burst of freshness in your mouth was the perfect clean palate cleanser against the richness of the teppan dishes.

And then, exceeding all expectations — the grilled seasoned cod cheeks! Plump, chewy cod cheeks grilled with a spicy-sweet marinade, with just the right amount of heat and savory kick that cleansed the palate completely. Genuinely the best pairing for soju. Teppan King turned out to be a Seomyeon Station steak-and-teppan spot where you could feel the owner's deep skill in every single side dish, not just the steaks and grilled teppan mains.
Is Teppan King worth a visit in Seomyeon?
Hidden deep in a Seomyeon alley, Teppan King was the kind of bar I really want to make my regular hangout.
- Live teppan cooking that's a feast for both eyes and mouth!
- A yakisoba & okonomiyaki Set A so perfect it made me call in reinforcements!
- The refreshing clean finish of the perilla oil cucumber muchim!
- Grilled seasoned cod cheeks with just enough spice to call for another soju!
Atmosphere, taste, hospitality — nothing was lacking, so I'm already planning to come back soon for more teppanyaki and a highball. (Not-so-secretly, my sibling already said they want to go again today haha.)
If you're around Seomyeon or Jeonpo looking for atmospheric Japanese teppanyaki or a bar with great vibes, definitely check out Teppan King!
