Goyang garden café on a rainy day with lily path: Baedagol Bakery

In short

Baedagol Bakery House is a two-story garden-view bakery café in Wondang, Goyang, Gyeonggi. After a rain shower, the writer walked the vivid green garden and lily path before sitting by the first-floor window wall with a warm Americano, fig campagne, cheese brioche, hazelnut anbutter, and fruit basque cheesecake. With flowers and seasonal menus changing throughout the year, it's the kind of café that makes you want to linger.

Baedagol Bakery House garden and the two-story café building exterior

Goyang Wondang café / a big Ilsan-area café, Baedagol Bakery House, a two-story spot with a pretty garden~

It was a drizzly weekday afternoon. Instead of a walk, my husband and I went for a drive-date to a pretty café after he got off work. Baedagol Bakery House has a variety of bakery items and seasonal menus, and its charm lies in a well-kept garden view where you can feel the season in a cozy atmosphere.

Location and parking for Baedagol Bakery House in Goyang Wondang

Located in Wondang, Goyang, a bit outside the city center, Baedagol Bakery House is a great spot to visit as a drive.

There's parking right in front of the café, but it fills up often. There's a separate parking lot right across the street too.

The garden and lily path, even greener after the rain

The weather was cloudy, but the café garden's greenery looked especially vivid after the rain, and it was really pretty. Before heading inside, I slowly walked a loop around the garden.

Along the path to the entrance, they'd made a lily-lined walkway, and the faint scent of lilies drifted through the air. This visit to Baedagol Bakery House will probably stay in my memory as the lily-scented one.

If it had been a cool, clear September day, I would have sat on the garden terrace with a coffee.

Terrace seating in the café garden

There's also a fairly large sand play area, so it's a café that gives kids something to do. Hands might get a bit dirty, but sipping coffee while watching a kid play in the sand sounds like a nice kind of leisure too.

First-floor café atmosphere

Open the door and you're greeted by a showcase displaying the bakery items and the counter.

Pass through an arched doorway and you reach the café space with its large window walls.

Above all, the charm of the first floor is the garden view stretching out beyond the window wall. Maybe because you can feel the season and weather so directly, there were more guests on the first floor than the second. Looking out at the green garden while drinking a cup of coffee, I almost felt like the coffee tasted even better because of it.

Second-floor café atmosphere

The second floor has a slightly more relaxed, private atmosphere, good for lingering. There are a few room-style spaces where you can chat quietly. One side has a window wall, so you can look down comfortably over the garden below and the surrounding scenery. There's also a second-floor terrace.

It's a café with a wide variety of bakery items too. When I visited this time, on a weekday evening, there wasn't a lot of bread left.

Warm Americano and dessert with a garden view

We took a seat right by the first-floor window wall. Ahh~ this is nice~

Craving a warm Americano is a sign that summer's over and autumn is at the door. As always, I picked out a generous spread of bread.

Campagne topped with figs

Fig campagne (깜빠뉴) ₩7,000

A plain, baguette-textured campagne topped generously with sweet figs. The campagne itself has almost no sweetness, so eating it with the figs together gave a wider range of flavors and textures, which I liked.

Cheese brioche on a plate

Cheese brioche ₩6,000

A brioche with that soft, pull-apart texture the bread is known for. It's studded with chewy rice cake inside, which makes the texture both fun and tasty.

What goes best with an Americano was, of course, this soft basque cheesecake topped with fresh green grapes.

There are various events too~

A different view every time the season changes

Baedagol Bakery House in Goyang Wondang is a diligent café that prepares different flowers each season and rolls out new seasonal menus to match. The reason I go out of my way to visit, driving a bit far, might be because of the comfort of a café where you end up lingering quite a while. I'm already looking forward to how pretty the garden view will be once the leaves start turning.
