Today my husband and I went on a little outing to Heyri Village in Paju. My husband is a certified budae jjigae (army stew) devotee — the kind of guy who could eat it every single day for a week and never complain. It's basically his soul food.
To satisfy that soul-food craving, we headed to a really famous budae jjigae place near the entrance of Heyri Village and Provence in Paju — Mom's Uijeongbu Budaejjigae! Spoiler: my husband finished two full bowls of rice and left completely satisfied, so I'm writing this review in a great mood.
Where is Mom's Uijeongbu Budaejjigae, and is parking easy?
Mom's Uijeongbu Budaejjigae has its own private parking lot, so we didn't have to worry about finding a spot. Parking is always a headache when driving out to Paju's outskirts, but this place has its own lot, so we could park comfortably and walk right in.
Best of all, true to its reputation as a go-to Paju budae jjigae spot, it sits right near the entrance to Heyri Village and Provence — making it a great stop for a weekend date route or a family outing. It's perfectly located to grab a meal right when you get hungry after browsing around Heyri.
Inside Mom's Uijeongbu Budaejjigae: wide, clean seating
My first impression walking into Mom's Uijeongbu Budaejjigae was, "wow, this place is really clean!" The tables are spaced generously and the whole interior is big and spotless, so you could bring a group or a family without feeling cramped at all. The cleanliness was so well kept that I gave it a perfect first-impression score before I'd even eaten a bite!
How much is budae jjigae for two with ramen sari?
As soon as we sat down, we ordered two servings of budae jjigae and the essential ramen noodle sari (add-on noodles) from Mom's Uijeongbu Budaejjigae. (It came to ₩22,000 for two servings — really great value!)
A little while later, the pot was set up and the lid came off — and just the visual alone got a gasp out of me. It was stacked so full of ham and various sari that you couldn't even see the broth underneath. Premium sausage, rice cake, glass noodles, vegetables, and the seasoning paste that ties it all together with deep flavor — it was a perfect combination that would win over any budae jjigae lover like my husband.
How the broth and ham tasted, and why my husband ate two bowls of rice
Once it started bubbling, we dropped in the ramen noodles. The broth, drawn out from the ham and vegetables, was deep and rich but still clean — not overly seasoned, so you just kept eating without getting tired of it. The moment my budae-jjigae-obsessed husband took his first bite, he couldn't stop raving.

The ham wasn't the cheap flour-filler kind either — it had a high meat content, chewy and savory, so we happily ate it down to the very last piece.
Dakgalbi at the next table: what we'll order next time
While we were eating happily, a great smell drifted over from the table next to us — turns out they were having dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken)! It turns out Mom's Uijeongbu Budaejjigae isn't just known for budae jjigae — it's also quietly become a go-to Paju dakgalbi spot. Watching that spicy-sweet dakgalbi sizzling on the hot plate made my mouth water even mid-budae-jjigae. My husband and I already planned our next visit: "Budae jjigae today, dakgalbi next time!"

Mom's Uijeongbu Budaejjigae satisfied my budae-jjigae-loving husband 200%! Generous ham and sari, deep but clean broth, a spotless and spacious dining room, plus easy parking and proximity to Heyri Village — nothing was missing from this satisfying meal.
