West Plaza beef BBQ in Uijeongbu: neukgansal for 3, Supsok Oki Jip
In short
Supsok Oki Jip Uijeongbu Station Main Branch is a beef BBQ restaurant near the West Plaza in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi. After a short wait on a fully booked Friday night, three servings of neukgansal (skirt short rib) arrived with a ₩10,000 set add-on of beef tripe hot pot and curry, and the membrane had been trimmed so cleanly that the meat stayed tender rather than chewy. With its cozy forest-themed interior instead of a noisy grill hall, Supsok Oki Jip works well as a blind date or date-night spot in Uijeongbu.

Today I'm bringing you a story from Supsok Oki Jip, a Korean beef BBQ spot near Uijeongbu's West Plaza. I'd walked past this place before while waiting for kkangtong dolgopchang (canned stone-grilled tripe), but this was my first time actually eating here. The restaurant looked like it had been around a while, so I figured it had to be good, and I finally made it in.

Supsok Oki Jip in Uijeongbu: a forest theme from the front door
True to its name — 'supsok' means forest — the walkway to the entrance is really decked out like a forest.
I visited on a Friday evening and there were way more customers than I expected. The place was fully booked, so we waited a bit until they cleared a table for us. The inside was just as beautifully done up like a real forest, and the atmosphere was really nice.

What we ordered: neukgansal for 3 plus the ₩10,000 set
Before ordering, I noticed a receipt event was also running. The perks looked good, so it might be worth joining if you visit. From the beef menu we ordered neukgansal (skirt short rib) for 3, and since other reviews made adding the set sound almost mandatory, we added it too.

Right after ordering, the basic side dishes were set up — each came out on its own individual tray, neat and tidy.

Honestly I didn't expect much from the tripe hot pot and curry that came with the ₩10,000 add-on set, but the beef tripe hot pot was packed with ingredients — way beyond what I expected.

How the neukgansal tasted — trimmed membrane makes the difference
The neukgansal for 3 came out with a generous garlic marinade piled on top.

Grilling to perfection

I tried the first bite plain, without dipping it in anything. Neukgansal can easily turn chewy because of the membrane, but here they'd trimmed the meat really well. With the membrane properly removed, it was so tender and not chewy at all — really delicious!

Garlic soy sauce, side dishes and how spicy the tripe hot pot gets
The garlic soy sauce that came with it was loaded with garlic, which I loved for how it cut through the meat's richness. The shiitake mushroom wasabi side dish was something I'd fallen for before at a galbi place, and once again it paired perfectly with the beef. I'm usually not a big fan of wasabi, but it went so well with the neukgansal. The crunchy pickled gungchae (aster greens) was also a top pairing with the beef!
The curry that came with it also had beef in it, and I found it nicely spicy. But my boyfriend, who can't handle spice well, found it a bit much!
The beef tripe hot pot had a generous amount of tripe inside along with plenty of vegetables. The broth had perilla seeds in it, giving it a nutty, spicy-tangy flavor that really called for soju. I was so bummed I couldn't drink that day! Overall, both the tripe hot pot and curry leaned spicy — fine for my taste, but my boyfriend, who's not great with spice, said it was a bit much.
Is Supsok Oki Jip a good blind date spot in Uijeongbu?
Supsok Oki Jip wasn't too loud or chaotic, just cozy, so it worked fine as a blind date spot. When I went to the restroom, they'd even set up bird chirping sounds in there, true to the forest theme — they really nailed the concept.
The cozy yet forest-like feel was really nice, making the menu and atmosphere perfect for a date course or a blind date. If you're looking for a blind date spot, a great blind date restaurant, or somewhere to eat in Uijeongbu, I fully recommend Supsok Oki Jip — it's got both the vibe and the flavor down.
