Dragging my tired body home from work, I stopped by Godansu, a Korean BBQ restaurant in Yulha, Gimhae, for dinner. There's a well-marked designated parking lot right across from the restaurant, so I didn't have to worry about parking at all. Since I'd made a reservation in advance, the table was already neatly set when I arrived, which put me in a great mood the moment I walked in.
Where is Godansu Gimhae Yulha, and where do you park?
Godansu

The address is 1F, 100 Gwandong-ro, Gimhae-si, Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea, and it's open 17:00 – 23:00.

Godansu's designated parking lot is shared with Hangari Sujebi next door.

Inside Godansu Gimhae Yulha: a room that suits dates and family dinners
I already thought the sign outside looked stylish and pretty, but stepping inside, the interior was even more upscale and full of atmosphere.

The soft lighting paired with the clean wood tones made it feel like a great spot for a date, a family gathering, or even a work dinner.

The banchan spread: pudding-soft steamed egg and dressed lettuce
Once seated, I looked over the table setting: neat basic side dishes alongside a solid lineup of sauces to bring out the flavor of the meat.

The steamed egg (gyeranjjim) that came as a basic side was especially impressive — soft and jiggly like the pudding-style egg custard you'd get at a high-end Japanese restaurant, and a perfect way to whet the appetite before the meal. The dressed lettuce (sangchu geotjeori) went perfectly with the meat too.

Oh?

Every table has its own tablet ordering screen, so I could browse menu photos and order easily — super convenient.

Aged pork belly for three, grilled by the owner himself
The main dish of the day was three servings of aged pork belly. Thanks to Godansu's own technique — 336 hours of wet-aging and 168 hours of dry-aging in rotation — the meat had a bright, vivid pink color and glossy freshness that was obvious at a glance.
But what I appreciated most was that the owner grilled the meat himself! There's a separate grill plate set up right beside the table, and he grills it perfectly with friendly, practiced hands.
I was so worn out after work that I barely had the energy to lift a finger, so not having to grill and just picking up chopsticks felt genuinely wonderful.
Once cooked, he carefully transfers the meat to a mini charcoal brazier on the table, keeping a gentle flame going underneath so it stays warm until the meal is over.

Which of Godansu's sauces first? The sancho pepper jeotgal wins
First bite has to be with just salt, no question 👍

Next up: a basil-based sauce, wasabi, and a Sichuan pepper-spiked hairtail jeotgal (salted seafood sauce)? I tried the meat with each one, and they were all so good 🩵 My personal favorite was the Sichuan pepper jeotgal ❤️❤️🫣
The complimentary braised white kimchi (6,000 won on the menu)
While I was happily eating, a white kimchi stew showed up on the house 🥳 Checking the menu, it's actually a ₩6,000 item, so it's an amazing-value side. There were even two cute little pieces of meat tucked inside the stew, and the sweet-and-sour yet deep flavor was addictive enough that I kept reaching for more even though I was already full.
Finishing with soft tofu doenjang stew, 7,000 won
The soft tofu doenjang stew (₩7,000) I ordered to close out the meal was good enough that I'd confidently call this place a 'stew restaurant' too.

Double-blending two kinds of broth gave it an exceptional savory depth. The soft tofu was left in big whole pieces, so soft it started to break apart the moment I lifted it with a spoon. It was the perfect finish to cut through the richness of the meat.

Is Godansu Gimhae Yulha worth it? Final verdict
Godansu in Yulha, Gimhae lets you enjoy meticulously aged meat in comfort, in an upscale atmosphere. Between the owner's friendly, hands-on grilling service and the excellent side dishes and extras, this was a complete meal without a single thing missing. Highly recommended if you want to cover flavor, atmosphere, and comfort all at once!
