Paldal Jutaek's address is 5 Gatmaesan-ro 56beon-gil, 1F, Paldal-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. Coming into Suwon Station's Rodeo Street, you'll see a Nonghyup bank — turn right there and go one block, and you'll spot Paldal Jutaek. There's no parking right in front of the shop, so use the nearby paid Samsung parking lot.

Paldal Jutaek looks like it was made by renovating an actual house. Rodeo Street itself tends to be crowded and noisy, but Paldal Jutaek sits in a quiet alley, so the sense of ease goes way up. It's a calm spot, great for a date or a gathering near Suwon Station.

There's a restroom inside so it's easy to use comfortably, and with its soft lighting, Paldal Jutaek feels like a proper Korean-style bar. The tables are big and wide, so it seems like it would handle group gatherings without a problem.

The outdoor yajang terrace in the alley

Go further inside Paldal Jutaek and there's a path leading to the outdoor yajang (outdoor drinking area). There's a friendly sign that reads 'Yajang Entrance' — once you see it written there, you kind of have to go check it out, there's a mysterious pull to it! Shall we head to the yajang?

Wow, the moment I stepped in, I was honestly surprised a space like this exists near Suwon Station. It's set in the alley between houses, giving it a real yajang feeling. Now that the weather has cooled down, Paldal Jutaek's yajang is a must! A cool breeze drifts in, quiet music plays in the background — this Suwon Station bar has an absolutely wild atmosphere.

I ordered the menu that most people order at Paldal Jutaek, the bulnae-hanpan. Even before visiting, from reading reviews, I really, really wanted to try it — it's exactly the combination of things I love, all together, and apparently packed with smoky char flavor. It's a set of four grilled dishes, all bursting with that smoky char taste, served on one platter: grilled octopus + pork intestines + boneless chicken feet + pork bulgogi. Really great when you can't decide on just one thing.

The salty pretzel snack that comes as a basic side dish. I'm really into pretzels these days, so my hand kept reaching for it.

How the bulnae-hanpan grilled platter tastes

The bulnae-hanpan comes with four kinds of food together on one griddle. It's generous, and there's the fun of picking whichever ones each person likes best — great for eating a variety.

Eating the octopus, chicken feet, pork bulgogi and pork intestines together with crunchy mung bean sprouts and sauce makes it even tastier. It goes well with beer or soju either way, and if you get hungry, ordering a bowl of rice on the side makes it a filling meal.

The grilled octopus and pork intestines are chewy with a spicy sauce and that smoky char flavor, and they're delicious. The boneless chicken feet were easy to eat comfortably, and if you like spicy food, you'll love them without question. Can't handle spicy? Then go for the sweet, smoky pork bulgogi haha.

The food tastes great, and the mood for a beer here is just as good. Sitting at the yajang terrace seats, breathing in the cool air while drinking a beer, is genuinely a healing moment.
