Suwon bar for hanwoo yukhoe combo and yukhoe bibimbap: Yukhoe Dokjon

In short

Yukhoe Dokjon Suwon Station Branch is a hand-cut chilled hanwoo (Korean beef) yukhoe (raw beef tartare) bar on the Rodeo Street in front of Suwon Station, Gyeonggi. The writer ordered the hanwoo yukhoe combo (2 people) to try yukhoe and yuk-sashimi together, then followed it up with yukhoe bibimbap for dinner. With refillable beef radish soup on the side, it's a solid spot for drinks and a meal near Suwon Station.

Today I'm bringing you a revisit review of a yukhoe (raw beef tartare) place near Suwon Station that I had such a great meal at before ~! It's Yukhoe Dokjon Suwon Station Branch, a hand-cut chilled hanwoo (Korean beef) yukhoe specialist that's held its spot on the Rodeo Street in front of Suwon Station for over 10 years!!

The only hanwoo yukhoe specialist near Suwon Station?

Yukhoe Dokjon Suwon Station Branch, a hanwoo yukhoe and yuk-sashimi specialist, is basically the only 'yukhoe-specialty' shop near Suwon Station! Unlike other places that sell domestic yukwu (non-hanwoo Korean cattle), this place sells real hanwoo! It's rare to find a place that carries hanwoo rather than domestic yukwu, and Yukhoe Dokjon is exactly that spot selling 'hanwoo' yukhoe! Apparently places using domestic yukwu have to label it as 'domestic' yukhoe rather than 'hanwoo.'

The beef radish soup gets refilled

Once you sit down, they bring out beef radish soup first ~! This beef radish soup is honestly a hidden gem of yukhoe restaurants!!! It was great to sip warm while drinking soju with the yukhoe and yuk-sashimi, so I got a refill! (I loved that the beef radish soup is refillable~~ the best)

Accessibility on Suwon Station's Rodeo Street and the store atmosphere

Yukhoe Dokjon Suwon Station Branch is right on the Rodeo Street directly in front of Suwon Station, so it's very accessible, and the store is spacious with plenty of seats and a pleasant atmosphere, making it easy to use! It would be great for a group gathering or work dinner near Suwon Station, or for a drink on a date ~~

What comes in the hanwoo yukhoe combo (2 people)

We ordered Yukhoe Dokjon's hanwoo yukhoe combo!! It's a combo menu where you can try both the hanwoo yukhoe and hanwoo sashimi together! Perfect for someone like me who can't decide!! I could never choose between yukhoe and yuk-sashimi because I wanted to try both haha

The visuals of the hanwoo yukhoe and yuk-sashimi are amazing, right? Pure radiance ~! The big advantage of Yukhoe Dokjon is that it's 100% hand-cut chilled hanwoo yukhoe, not frozen! It's the only place near Suwon Station selling chilled — not frozen — hanwoo yukhoe. No frozen yukhoe used here

Hanwoo yukhoe served alongside soju

They say Yukhoe Dokjon Suwon Station Branch uses 100% hand-cut chilled hanwoo yukhoe, and I guess that's why the hanwoo yukhoe and yuk-sashimi looked so good visually ~! The texture looked so fresh. Once the radiant yukhoe and yuk-sashimi showed up, I couldn't stop drinking soju .. I ended up drinking way too much lol

Side dishes and sauces served with the yukhoe combo
Egg yolk, sesame oil sauce, and chojang sauce

If you order the hanwoo yukhoe combo (2 people), you get the hanwoo yukhoe and hanwoo yuk-sashimi of course, plus a fresh egg yolk to mix in with the yukhoe, sesame oil sauce and chojang sauce for dipping the yukhoe and yuk-sashimi, and pickled radish, pickled shallots, pickled ginger, pear, and radish sprouts on the side!

Honestly, frozen yukhoe tends to be dry and have that distinctive gamey smell, but because Yukhoe Dokjon's yukhoe is chilled, the freshness was top-tier! The freshness makes sense since they say the hanwoo is trimmed the same day, kept fresh at a low temperature, and mixed to order the moment it's ordered

The taste of yukhoe mixed with egg yolk

I mixed the fresh egg yolk into the hanwoo yukhoe and gave it a good stir!! Nutty and sweet ~~ the nuttiness and umami get doubled! And they also give you sesame sauce to eat with the yukhoe — dipping the yukhoe in this sesame sauce was such a treat!

Yukhoe bibimbap, ordered as a meal

Since we hadn't had dinner, we also ordered the yukhoe bibimbap (raw beef tartare mixed rice) as a meal! The yukhoe on top of the bibimbap was generous and looked so fresh, right? haha Mixing it all up as usual made the umami explode!!

It's a great place for a date, great for drinks and a meal as your first stop, and great for more drinks as a second stop too — if you want to try fresh chilled, not frozen, hanwoo yukhoe near Suwon Station, I highly recommend Yukhoe Dokjon Suwon Station Branch ♥♥
