Bundang kalguksu spot for cheese bomb chicken katsu: Myeongyeok Sunae

On a Sunday evening, after playing around at Bundang Central Park with my family, we got hungry and headed over to a nearby Sunae Station kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) spot, Myeongyeok Bundang Sunae. We arrived around 7pm and the place was already so busy that the popular menu items were nearly sold out — clearly a well-known kalguksu restaurant near Sunae Station!

I'm sharing my honest take on the chicken kalguksu and chicken katsu we tried at Myeongyeok Bundang Sunae, plus the location, parking, menu prices, and hours — stick with me to the end!

Where is Myeongyeok Bundang Sunae, and is there parking?

It's within walking distance from Exit 3 of Sunae Station on the Suin-Bundang Line, so it's convenient to reach by public transit too.

It's a perfect stop after a walk around Central Park, so I imagine a lot of locals in the neighborhood, like us, come by too.

Sunday 7pm at Myeongyeok Bundang Sunae: the room and the self-serve bar

When we arrived around 7pm, the restaurant was already pretty packed with families. Living up to its reputation as a well-known kalguksu spot near Sunae Station, popular items were selling out one by one, which surprised me a little.

The self-serve bar had unlimited broth and rice, which made feeding the kids so much easier. There were also side dishes like pickled radish and turnip you could help yourself to, which made it a great spot for a family visit.

Overall it had a comfortable, cozy vibe, good for the whole family to eat without any fuss.

Menu and prices at Myeongyeok Bundang Sunae

Looking at the menu, there was more than just kalguksu — naengmyeon (cold noodles) varieties and chicken katsu too, which made choosing fun.

Our family ordered a nice mix of three items: chicken kalguksu, the bibim naengmyeon chicken tenderloin katsu set, and cheese bomb chicken katsu.

Chicken kalguksu was ₩9,900, and the bibim naengmyeon chicken tenderloin katsu set was ₩13,900. We also ordered the cheese bomb chicken katsu on top of that, and overall the prices were reasonable, so it wasn't a big burden for a family dinner. The portions were more generous than I expected too.

How were the chicken kalguksu, bibim naengmyeon and cheese bomb chicken katsu?

The standout dish, hands down, was the chicken kalguksu.

I lightly dipped the noodles into the perilla oil sauce that came with it, and the perilla seeds popped in my mouth with an incredible nuttiness.

I'd never tried this combination before, so my eyes went wide without meaning to.

The bibim naengmyeon was tangy, spicy, and sweet all at once — delicious.

My older kid ate it without complaining about the spice. The chicken katsu that came with it was a hit with both kid and adult palates.

The cheese bomb chicken katsu had an especially good sauce!! Putting the katsu, salad, and pickles between the dinner rolls to make a mini sandwich made it even tastier.

True to its name, it was one hearty piece, and my kid kept reaching for more.

The main dishes were so filling that we never even got around to trying the unlimited rice refills. I guess that just goes to show how substantial and satisfying each dish was at this Sunae Station kalguksu restaurant!!

Is Myeongyeok Bundang Sunae worth a family dinner?

On a Sunday evening with the kids, we had a really satisfying dinner at Myeongyeok Bundang Sunae, a well-known kalguksu restaurant near Sunae Station.
