Sujebi restaurant near AK Plaza Bundang in Seohyeon: Gangnam Gyoja

It's gotten really chilly in the mornings and evenings lately. With the changing seasons I caught a cold, and at times like this the first thing I think of is a hot bowl of soup, right?

I've always liked eating something warm and filling, so I wanted to introduce a kalguksu (knife-cut noodle) specialty restaurant in Seohyeon, Seongnam that I visited a few days ago — Gangnam Gyoja Bundang Seohyeon Branch.

How to reach Gangnam Gyoja on Seohyeon Rodeo Street, and where to park

Gangnam Gyoja Bundang Seohyeon Branch isn't far from Seohyeon AK Plaza, so it's a great walk after shopping. It's right on Seohyeon Rodeo Street, so accessibility was seriously the best.

There's only mechanical parking or about 3 spots on the 1st floor of the building, so I parked at AK Plaza Bundang Lot A and walked over.

Parking fees there are pretty reasonable, so if you want to shop and eat without rushing, I'd recommend the public lot!

Head up to the 2nd floor of Yeonmu Building and you'll find Gangnam Gyoja Bundang Seohyeon Branch right there, no trouble finding it.

What is the Gangnam Gyoja dining room like?

Gangnam Gyoja Seohyeon Branch, a kalguksu specialty restaurant in Bundang, is right there as soon as you come up to the 2nd floor. Taste matters, but you end up checking out the hygiene and interior too, right?

The spacious hall is kept neat and clean. It's close to Seohyeon Station, so it's easy to get to and no trouble at all by public transit.

Gangnam Gyoja Bundang Seohyeon Branch is open daily from 11am to 9pm. Break time is 3–4:30pm and last order is at 3pm and 8:30pm, so plan your visit around that!

What is on the menu at Gangnam Gyoja Bundang Seohyeon Branch?

Gangnam Gyoja Bundang Seohyeon Branch's menu is made up of great lunch options near Seohyeon Station — kalguksu, sujebi, gyoza dumplings, bibimbap, ox-bone rice cake and dumpling soup, dakgaejang (spicy chicken soup) and seolleongtang (ox bone soup).

Great for eating solo near Seohyeon Station too, and perfect for these days when it's chilly morning and evening and you crave something hot and soupy.

The origin labeling was neatly displayed too — I've been a bit uneasy about Chinese cabbage lately, but since it's domestic napa cabbage kimchi, I could eat with peace of mind.

How does the eolkeun sujebi broth taste?

I had a bit of a cold coming on at the time, so I ordered the eolkeun sujebi, a hot dish. Rather than an artificial or overly sharp flavor, the rich ox-bone broth with a spicy kick was excellent.

On top of that, it came loaded with sujebi, dumplings and minced meat — a perfect match for solo diners or office workers grabbing lunch near Seohyeon Station.

Eating that hot sujebi, my cold symptoms felt like they just melted away.

Korean-grown napa cabbage kimchi, a must with kalguksu and sujebi

You can't have kalguksu or sujebi without kimchi, right? Usually I see a lot of restaurants using Chinese cabbage rather than domestic, but true to a kalguksu specialty restaurant in Bundang, they used domestic cabbage for the kimchi. The seasoning was spot on and refreshing, so I kept reaching for more haha.

Are the signature 10-piece gyoza dumplings worth ordering?

Since the restaurant's name is literally Gangnam Gyoja (dumplings), I had to order the gyoza dumplings! I was curious just how good they must be to put dumplings in the restaurant name haha.

The dumplings come out 10 pieces at a time, and they looked great and generous! The price was reasonable too.

The meat filling bursts with juice the moment you bite in, with great texture and no gamey smell — you could tell it was the real deal haha.

The dumpling skin wasn't too thick either, so it went well alongside the kalguksu and sujebi. If you write a Naver review, they give you tteokgalbi (grilled short rib patties), so you can enjoy an even more generous spread.

I'd never seen the restaurant's name engraved on the spoon before haha.

Chlorella noodle bibim guksu: what are the green noodles?

My husband ordered the bibim guksu, and since the noodles were green, I asked — turns out they're chlorella noodles!

The bibim guksu also came piled with minced meat, so while noodles alone digest quickly, having the meat there too made it feel like you were actually getting your protein and carbs covered haha.

Final verdict on Gangnam Gyoja: value, service and a return visit

In this era of high prices, finding such a filling, good-value meal near Seohyeon Station is genuinely appealing!

The staff were kind too, and above all the food tasted great, so this feels like a Seohyeon-dong kalguksu restaurant I'll keep stopping by as it gets colder and colder.

These days when it's easy to feel a bit down, why not fill up on some happy energy with warm kalguksu, sujebi, and gyoza dumplings!? If you're near Seohyeon Station, I recommend Gangnam Gyoja.
