What kind of restaurant is Bossam Ae Kalguksu in Sangdaewon-dong?
A weekend visit review of Bossam Ae Kalguksu, known in Sangdaewon-dong as a great-value restaurant because kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) comes free with a bossam order — a place that's truly committed to its food, boiling the bossam and making kimchi fresh each day, and frying the jeon (savory pancakes) to order!

My family visited on a weekend, so we could park comfortably.

We arrived before 11:30am on a Saturday, and when we first walked in, almost every table was full so I barely managed to take any interior shots. These photos were taken later, once things had calmed down after we finished eating — the tables and chairs looked comfortable, and there were solo dining seats too, at this great Seongnam bossam spot ♥ The staff were friendly too, which made it even better. (There's a reason it's so busy, haha.)
Menu prices and what the family of three ordered

You can tell why Bossam Ae Kalguksu is such a great-value spot in Sangdaewon-dong just from the menu board — the small gabrisal (pork neck) bossam starts at ₩37,000, kalguksu comes free with any bossam order, and rice refills are unlimited. There's also a bossam set meal and a deluxe bossam set that looked like great lunch options, plus jeon (pancakes) for sale — this seemed like a perfect place to pair bossam or jeon with makgeolli (rice wine) too!

Orders are placed via a tableside kiosk, and while ordering I noticed a kids' set menu, so I'd recommend this as a great-value spot for families with babies or young kids too.

Since kalguksu comes included, even as a family of three we just ordered the small gabrisal bossam and added an extra sujebi (hand-torn dough soup) topping. After ordering I looked around the restaurant more and found a helpful sign explaining how to enjoy bossam and kalguksu, so I took a photo.

First out was the basic setup — chili, garlic, salted shrimp, ssamjang (dipping sauce) — along with clear broth for cooking the kalguksu.
How does the sujebi add-on taste in the free kalguksu?

Next came the free kalguksu noodles, along with the sujebi topping we'd added for around ₩2,000 or ₩3,000 — and it exceeded expectations.
Before the bossam at this great Seongnam bossam spot arrived, we started by dropping the kalguksu noodles and sujebi into the pot and boiling them vigorously — the broth was deep and clear, which is probably why Bossam Ae Kalguksu Seongnam Sangdaewon Branch has earned a reputation as a certified kalguksu spot.
I drooled watching the kalguksu and sujebi bubbling away and took a video.

I'd had the kalguksu before and it was just as good, but this was my first time adding the sujebi topping, so it tasted even better. If you love sujebi, I'd definitely recommend adding it to this kalguksu, haha.
Is the small gabrisal bossam enough for three people?

While we were raving about the sujebi kalguksu and eating it with rice, the small bossam arrived — why is the small size so huge?

Moist, tender gabrisal bossam served with a generous, no-holding-back portion of shredded radish kimchi, napa cabbage kimchi, and bossam cabbage — this is a truly great-value spot in Sangdaewon-dong!

The pork alone was plenty delicious, but when combined with the various side dishes it came with, the bossam tasted twice as good, and it paired great with the kalguksu too — the name 'Bossam Ae Kalguksu' fit this great Seongnam bossam spot perfectly.

With unlimited rice refills and a self-service bar where you can grab more side dishes if you run out, this great-value restaurant in Sangdaewon-dong is perfect for eating until you're stuffed ♥ Whether you go for lunch or dinner, you can always eat a hearty meal, making it a Seongnam restaurant I wanted to share with anyone who loves Korean food like bossam.
