Suwon coffee shop with bean acidity choice: 3 bagels, Orange Bagel

In short

Orange Bagel is a three-floor bagel café in Gosaek-dong, Suwon, facing the Suwon Industrial Complex. Visiting with a bagel-loving friend, the writer ordered three bagels — caprese tomato, Laugen butter and orange — plus two Americanos and a caffè latte, choosing between nutty and acidic beans at the counter. The crisp-outside, soft-inside sweet-and-salty Laugen butter bagel went best with the coffee.

First moment arriving at Orange Bagel in Gosaek-dong, Suwon

After a while, I went with some bagel-loving friends to Orange Bagel, a large café near Seoul famous as a Suwon bagel spot, located in Gosaek-dong across from Suwon Industrial Complex. The parking lot is spacious and the café itself is huge, making it a great place for group gatherings or dates — the age range of visitors was really wide, from couples to families with kids.

The orange signboard and red brick made Orange Bagel easy to spot even from a distance. The private parking lot was spacious and the spaces were wide, so parking was no trouble at all. With a clear blue sky and great driving weather, Orange Bagel is a Suwon café worth stopping by on a drive.

Walking through the door on the 1st floor, you're greeted by a long display of bagels — you pick your bagels first, then order drinks. The orange box packaging looked luxurious and pretty, perfect as a gift.

From plain bagels to ones piled high with toppings, there was a truly dazzling array of choices. I wanted to try them all, but with so many options, it was a hard decision to narrow down.

Choose your beans at Orange Bagel: nutty, acidic or decaf

Orange Bagel's signature coffees are the orange-infused drinks — Orangeano, Orange Breeze, orange latte, and Orange Bianco — but since this was my first visit, I wanted to taste the classic original Americano first, so I went with that. You can choose your coffee beans between nutty, acidic, or decaf. We ordered one nutty and one acidic.

Plain, orange, mocha bun, pepperoni, garlic, caprese tomato, scallion cream bacon, sweet red bean butter, Laugen butter, bacon egg mayo. We picked 3 of these, so next time I'll have to work my way through the rest one by one.

With Halloween coming up in October, this was a nice early taste of it. Orange Bagel had photo zones all around the café.

Second floor and rooftop: how much seating does Orange Bagel have?

The stairs leading up to the 2nd floor have such exotic lighting and interior design that it felt like traveling to the US without ever getting on a plane.

Mini TV photo zone showing you climbing the stairs

A mini TV shows you climbing the stairs as you come up, so this spot turned into a popular place for selfies. There were lots of group tables and seating, so even though it was crowded, there was still plenty of room to sit.

Orange Bagel 3rd floor rooftop

The sky has been so pretty lately, and I really wanted to take photos up here. The buzzer only works up to the 2nd floor, so if you're using the 3rd floor outdoor tables, it's best to wait on the 1st floor and carry it up yourself.

Caprese tomato, Laugen butter bagel, orange bagel, two Americanos, and a caffè latte. I love acidic coffee so I chose the acidic bean, and it tasted great. The coffee was so good I wanted a refill, haha.

Orange bagel, the café's namesake

The friend I went with likes classic bagels, so we picked the orange bagel. True to its name, the bagel was full of orange flavor — not overpowering, but a full, pleasant burst of orange in every bite.

Laugen butter bagel: the best match with coffee

Crisp outside, soft inside — the Laugen butter bagel nailed that texture. The sweet-and-salty combination was fantastic and paired so well with the coffee. The buttery flavor and crisp exterior were the real charm. Like chicken skin's crunch, the outer surface of the Laugen bagel was genuinely delicious.

This bagel was full of basil aroma, with a lingering basil finish that filled the whole mouth — really appealing. The ingredients were generous, delighting the palate with their fragrance. Caprese tomato tastes even better eaten together with the cheese and tomato on top.

Is Orange Bagel worth it as a Suwon brunch café?

All three bagels we agonized over choosing turned out to be great picks. The Laugen bagel with its sweet-and-salty flavor paired best with coffee and left me wanting more; the orange bagel, plain but for its lovely orange scent; and the caprese tomato, memorable for its basil aroma. If you're looking for a Suwon brunch café known for good bagels and coffee, I can confidently recommend Orange Bagel. It opens at 7:30, so it's great for early breakfast or brunch, and there's a wide variety of bagels. Next time I'll have to come back for a brunch date with my boyfriend.
