Supsok Oki Jip near Uijeongbu Station

For anyone looking for somewhere to eat meat at Uijeongbu Station, it is very easy to get to. It is about 130 m from Exit 3 of Uijeongbu Station, so it is seriously close. It is down that alley packed with good restaurants. It was only a few minutes on foot, so visiting without a car was easy; and since this is the kind of barbecue restaurant that is great with a drink, taking public transit seemed most convenient to me, haha. Such a good location for meeting up near Uijeongbu Station, a date, or dinner after a gathering!

If you are driving, use the paid public underground shopping-center parking lot at 29 Sinheung-ro 240beon-gil, Uijeongbu-si, Gyeonggi-do, rather than parking directly in front of the restaurant.

An exterior surrounded by trees and plants

Even from a distance, it definitely had a different mood from an ordinary barbecue restaurant. The wooden exterior is wrapped in plants, which feels rather mysterious. Even though it is right by Uijeongbu Station, the exterior made me feel as if I had come out to a lovely barbecue spot on the outskirts somewhere. The red accents make it quite easy to spot from afar, too.

There is also a menu board outside, so you can check it before going in!

An entrance reached through a bamboo path

Artificial turf and stepping stones run between the bamboo; follow them all the way in and you will find the entrance. Rather than simply opening a door straight off the street, you pass through this short garden-like path, so I think people looking for a Uijeongbu Station date restaurant would like it too—boyfriends, haha.

At the end of the bamboo path, there it is at last: the entrance to Supsok Oki Jip Uijeongbu Station Main Branch! With the wooden door as well, it feels less like a barbecue restaurant in the middle of the city and more like finding a hidden shop in the woods. The further inside you go, the more you understand why they named it Supsok Oki Jip—“Oki’s House in the Forest.”

A forest-themed interior and second floor

Ta-da! Inside, there are wood-toned tables and green plants everywhere, with overall slightly dim lighting, so the atmosphere was really nice. I usually picture beef restaurants as bright and bustling, but this one even has neon lighting for a slightly hip feel? The tables are not crammed tightly together either, so it was comfortable for eating meat. The tables are huge too!! Aprons hanging on mannequins, haha.

What I especially liked were the windows! Their round frames have red accents that quietly work so well with the wood-toned interior. Plants fill the ceiling and upper walls, so the forest concept continues wherever you look. The owner clearly took the concept seriously—not just in the name, but from the exterior and entrance all the way through the interior. High chairs are available too!!

There is seating upstairs too

I thought Supsok Oki Jip Uijeongbu Station Main Branch only had a first floor, but upstairs there were plenty of tables as well. It would be good for a group visit or a company dinner near Uijeongbu Station! The wood tones, red accents, and soft lighting all make for a great atmosphere.

You can see the moon 🌝

Looking down from the second floor, you can also see a large moon-shaped light, haha. With the purple lighting and moon hanging there, it somehow felt like we were camping in the forest. There is interesting decor to look at throughout, so it seemed like a pretty good Uijeongbu Station date spot too.

There is a huge mirror in front of the restroom too. The reflection of the red stairs against the green wall goes surprisingly well with the restaurant’s overall concept, haha. Restroom check complete ✔️✔️ It was clean, so it passes!

Why the table has three burners

When we sat down, the table was the first thing that caught my eye. But why does a barbecue restaurant table have three burners…? There is a grill in the middle for the meat, plus a separate burner on each side. The reason comes up shortly.

Beef options and the ₩10,000 first-order set

There are four main beef options: Emperor rib meat, 180 g for ₩16,000; brisket, 150 g for ₩15,000; diced beef rib meat, 150 g for ₩23,000; and house-made LA galbi (Korean-style short ribs), 250 g for ₩22,000. Sides include gopchang jeongol (spicy beef offal hot pot) for ₩15,000, snowflake yukhoe (seasoned raw beef) for ₩15,000, curry Soup for ₩8,000, and jjagechi for ₩5,000.

But here is the key point at Supsok Oki Jip! With the first order, you can add ₩10,000 for a set that includes gopchang jeongol plus curry Soup. You can enjoy two kinds of beef along with a soup dish and curry, so if you are visiting anyway, adding the set seemed like a much more plentiful way to eat. Without it, the standard accompaniment is beef radish soup!

Even the basic side dishes are unusual

Once seated, they set out the basic side dishes, and the selection here is quite unusual! Alongside familiar dishes such as kimchi and pickles came a bowl of soup, haha. But this soup was seriously delicious ㅠㅠ It was a warm, smooth, nutty crouton soup, and we kept scooping it up before the meat even arrived—my mom got a refill, lol.

The shiitake wasabi was pleasantly salty while retaining the mushroom’s distinctive aroma and texture, making it nice between bites of meat. They also serve gungchae jangajji (pickled stem lettuce), which I love, haha. Its crisp, crunchy bite makes it a special treat. The sauce for dipping meat is not plain soy sauce either; it is a soy sauce topped generously with garlic. With Cheongyang chili peppers and scallions too, it cuts through the richness of the beef and adds a punchy garlic aroma!

A pot brimming with gopchang jeongol

We added the ₩10,000 first-order set, which brings gopchang jeongol and curry Soup with the meat. The gopchang jeongol appeared first—and wait, is this really the quality included in a ₩10,000 add-on set?? I expected a tiny soup dish that felt like a free extra, but it arrived properly prepared in a pot filled to the brim, so I was surprised from the look alone.

Set gopchang jeongol in a pot

We put the gopchang jeongol on a separate burner beside the meat grill and let it bubble away 🔥 It already looked full of ingredients when it arrived, but after it boiled and I turned it over once with the ladle… it was seriously loaded with meat and offal ㄷㄷ That is why the table has multiple burners, haha. You can grill meat in the center while keeping the gopchang jeongol hot and bubbling beside it!

The gopchang jeongol was really generous with soft tofu, radish, onion, scallions, meat, offal, and more. It was not the kind of set dish that has a few pieces of offal tossed in and calls it a day; every ladleful brought up both meat and offal, so it did not feel thrown together at all! Although the broth is red, it was not just aggressively spicy, salty, and intense. It had a pleasantly spicy yet comparatively clean flavor that kept me going back for more. A bite of meat followed by a spoonful of gopchang jeongol broth—ahh… this is a flavor that calls for soju… sniff 🍶 It was the kind of Uijeongbu Station restaurant that makes resisting alcohol even harder, haha.

After the gopchang jeongol came the curry Soup! A large iron platter was generously covered in curry, with a neat round mound of rice in the middle, haha. At first I expected just a light curry side dish, but the portion on this one was enormous too??

The curry was packed with large-cut carrots and lots of meat! The meat was not just a few pieces for appearance; it kept coming up with every spoonful. And it was really tender ㅠㅠ The curry had soaked in well, so taking a big spoonful with rice was so good… I would have been happy with the gopchang jeongol alone, but getting this much curry and rice too made the ₩10,000 set add-on an absolute recommendation. The value was so good that you would almost regret not ordering it.

Diced beef rib meat and rib meat spread

Wooow, the meat is here~~ Can you see how good it looks?? ㅠㅠ It looks sooo delicious. Just looking at it, the spread already feels abundant without even eating.

Diced beef rib meat with salt

Now it was time to grill the meat properly! First, diced beef rib meat went onto the grill 🔥 As the name suggests, it comes pre-cut into bite-size cubes, making it incredibly easy to cook. There is no need to grill a whole piece and cut it afterward—just turn the pieces over and cook them to your preferred doneness! We added king oyster mushrooms to the grill properly too, haha. The serving seemed quite substantial for one portion!

One piece of nicely browned diced beef rib meat! Personally, I thought it was best with just a little salt rather than lots of accompaniments. Because the pieces are cut thick, they are wonderfully juicy when you bite in, and the salt brings out the beef’s own savory flavor perfectly. Salt is a must for the first bite!!

Diced beef rib meat served with salt

This is the garlic sauce. I would not recommend it with the diced beef rib meat, haha—it kind of masks the flavor of the meat ㅠㅠ Salt or shiitake wasabi is best. We also happily ate the king oyster mushrooms grilled between the meat. They were sliced thickly, so the outside browned nicely while the inside stayed moist.

Emperor rib meat with garlic sauce

The second cut was rib meat! Unlike the diced beef rib meat, the rib meat arrives lightly seasoned with garlic. It is not a strong marinade that completely covers the beef; it is added just enough not to interfere with the meat’s flavor, which I liked. The garlic aroma rises as soon as it hits the grill, and it has a completely different charm from the diced beef rib meat!

We browned the rib meat over the flame, giving it a proper smoky char 🔥 Since it was lightly seasoned, the surface became more and more appetizing as it cooked, and the smoky aroma from those lightly charred parts was insane… The meat was not tough; it had a nice bite while remaining tender, so I kept reaching for more.

If the diced beef rib meat was best with salt, the rib meat was best with the garlic soy sauce that came earlier! Adding that sharp garlic sauce to the lightly garlic-seasoned rib meat made the savory flavor go crazy. Personally, I recommend this pairing: diced beef rib meat = salt / rib meat = garlic sauce, haha.

We considered ordering more meat, but were too full

Honestly, it was so good that we considered adding more meat… but we were too full to do it ㅠㅠ haha. At first I wondered whether there would be enough meat, but once we ate the gopchang jeongol, curry Soup, and rice too, it was truly much more food than expected.

At first, I thought Supsok Oki Jip Uijeongbu Station Main Branch would simply be a Uijeongbu Station barbecue restaurant with an unusual atmosphere, but after eating there, the food lineup was far more substantial than expected! The diced beef rib meat was thick and juicy, delicious even with a light dip in salt, while the garlic-seasoned rib meat was perfect with smoky char and garlic sauce. The gopchang jeongol was full of ingredients, and the curry Soup came generously loaded with meat and carrots plus rice; neither felt like a token side, but rather had the quality of a standalone dish, so the value was really great. From the crouton soup, shiitake wasabi, and gungchae jangajji among the basic sides to second-floor seating and high chairs, it seemed good for everything from dates and family meals to gatherings and company dinners!
