I really love fish to begin with, but lately I've been craving warm, clean-tasting fish dishes even more! So my mom, my husband and I all headed to Godeungeo Myeongpumi Doeda Suwon Branch, a spot known as a West Suwon favorite!
Grilling fish at home means dealing with the smell and the cleanup, and if you want to air the place out it turns into a whole ordeal. So eating it out cleanly like this felt way more comfortable and satisfying haha. My mom said she was already excited just hearing we were going for fish after a while, and that got me excited too ˊᴗˋ
Where is Godeungeo Myeongpumi Doeda Suwon Branch, and what about parking and hours?
Godeungeo Myeongpumi Doeda Suwon Branch is on the 1st floor at 1731 Seobu-ro, Gwonseon-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, and it's open daily from 10:40 AM to 10:00 PM (last order 8:50 PM). There's a large free parking lot just for the restaurant, so driving over was really convenient.

It's a great spot to drive to from Homaesil or Topdong, so if you're looking for a West Suwon favorite, I highly recommend it for accessibility! The parking lot is really spacious too, so you don't need to worry about parking at all.
Inside the West Suwon fish restaurant: seating and atmosphere
Walking into Godeungeo Myeongpumi Doeda Suwon Branch, the ceilings were high and the space was really wide open, giving it such a great sense of openness.

Even though it can seat a lot of people, there's still a wait on weekends — that's how popular it is! The tables were also spaced generously, so my husband, mom and I could sit comfortably and chat through the meal ˊᴗˋ

As soon as you walk in you can see the kitchen and the wood-fired oven right there, and it was fun watching the fish get grilled to a golden brown!

You order via the tablet at each table, which was easy, and the space felt much better suited to family gatherings or bringing your parents than eating alone haha. Of course, baby chairs were available too!

They said there could be a wait during peak hours, so we went a bit early and got seated right away with no wait haha. But even the waiting area was really well set up...!
Menu and self-serve banchan bar at Godeungeo Myeongpumi Doeda

We tried three: grilled mackerel, grilled cutlassfish, and grilled bakdae (a flat tonguefish) ˊᴗˋ

The banchan (side dishes) have their own self-serve bar, so we could help ourselves without feeling self-conscious,

and the seaweed soup here was seriously excellent! The deep, savory broth was the kind you keep thinking about, so I lost count of how many refills I had.

On top of the fish, gochujang bulgogi (spicy pork stir-fry) comes included as a default side!
How was the grilled mackerel?

My husband's favorite — grilled mackerel! It came out crispy on the outside and moist inside, with absolutely no fishy taste at all.

The oil content was just right, so eating it with rice gave that full, savory flavor spreading through my mouth ෆ
Grilled cutlassfish vs. grilled bakdae: which was better?
Grilled cutlassfish is my favorite! The thick flesh was golden on the outside and soft, flaky on the inside, melting the moment it hit my mouth.

It had such a clean flavor that my mom really loved it too haha.
The grilled bakdae had crispy skin with oily, juicy flesh underneath — an unexpected delicacy. It felt like slightly dried bakdae was used, and the fish aroma was strong too! Genuinely delicious.

With the three of us alternating between the three fish, we never got tired of it and stayed full the whole way through.

Especially putting a bit of fish on a spoonful of rice made the flavor come alive twice as much, so I kept eating it that way lol

And the gochujang bulgogi that came with it was so good I wondered if it was actually the main dish! Even people who don't eat fish should be fine here thanks to this gochujang bulgogi!
Why Godeungeo Myeongpumi Doeda works for a family meal out
My husband was also satisfied, saying it had been a while since he'd had such a proper full spread haha. With easy banchan refills and a hearty bowl of seaweed soup on top, it really was a satisfying meal ˊᴗˋ
If you're looking for a West Suwon favorite that's great for a family meal out, or a Suwon grilled fish spot with a neat, well-set table, I definitely recommend Godeungeo Myeongpumi Doeda Suwon Branch! Next time I want to try the grilled croaker and the premium set menu too haha. Return visit intention: 100% :)
