Nonhyeon Korean BBQ, three thin-sliced cuts and private rooms: Daepae

In short

Daepae Market Gangnam Nonhyeon Branch is a 24-hour Korean BBQ restaurant a short walk from Nonhyeon Station Exit 3 in Gangnam, Seoul. The writer stopped in after work with her boyfriend and grilled three cuts — thin-sliced beef brisket (daepae usamgyeop), flower pork belly (kkotsamgyeop) and thin-sliced pork belly (daepae samgyeopsal) — on an oversized grill plate, with self-serve corn salad, green onion salad and mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) alongside. You pick your own meat thickness and there are private rooms in the back, so Daepae Market also works for a late-night group dinner.

Table spread of thin-sliced pork belly at Daepae Market Gangnam Nonhyeon Branch

I went to Nonhyeon for dinner with my boyfriend after work :) That day I wasn't in the mood for anything fancy, just meat, so we went for daepae samgyeopsal (thin-sliced pork belly). Honestly, I used to think all thin-sliced pork places were pretty much the same, haha.

But this time at Daepae Market Gangnam Nonhyeon Branch, there were more meat options than I expected, and I could load up on my favorite side dishes as much as I wanted, so I really liked it. It's also open 24 hours, so I thought it'd be great for anyone looking for a late-night restaurant in Gangnam.

Where is Daepae Market Gangnam Nonhyeon Branch, the 24-hour Korean BBQ near Nonhyeon Station?

Daepae Market Gangnam Nonhyeon Branch is located near Nonhyeon Station, so it was easy to find. Best of all, since it's open 24 hours every day, it's a great option when you're craving meat late after work or need somewhere to eat in the middle of the night.

It's just a short walk from Nonhyeon Station Exit 3, and it's also close to my office, so I think I'll be coming here often after work. Anyway, this time we visited again for dinner after work.

How big is the grill plate at Daepae Market?

The first thing that caught my eye after sitting down was this grill. It was really big, haha. I took a photo next to my hand for comparison — you can probably tell how big it is from that. Even ordering several kinds of meat for two people, we could grill everything comfortably at once.

It was also surprising that Daepae Market lets you choose your own meat thickness. Most thin-sliced pork places usually only serve one fixed thickness, so being able to pick the thickness you want to match your taste was a nice touch.

We ordered daepae usamgyeop, kkotsamgyeop, and daepae samgyeopsal that day! I liked that 'daepae' doesn't just mean one or two options — there was plenty to choose from. Each menu item had a slightly different texture and nutty flavor, so it was fun switching between them. Since the meat is thin, it cooked really fast on the grill, so even if you show up starving, you don't have to wait long to eat, haha.

Here's the menu along with the lineup of what my boyfriend and I ordered!! I'm writing this post at night and this lineup is making me so hungry ㅠ.ㅠ

What's on the self-serve bar at Daepae Market?

One of the reasons I really liked this place was the self-serve bar 🤍 They had kimchi, garlic, enoki mushrooms, lettuce wraps, and even my favorite corn salad, haha. You know, the corn mixed with mayonnaise thing 🌽

Being able to grab as much as I wanted while eating meat was so convenient. And you know how enoki mushrooms and kimchi taste amazing when grilled along with the meat, right?

What I really thought was delicious was the green onion salad sauce. Thin-sliced pork belly and green onion salad is a classic combo anyway, but the sauce here was exactly the style I like, so I kept eating it alongside the meat.

Another thing I liked was that salt, pepper, and sesame oil were set out at every table! When you want to add a little more seasoning while eating, it's convenient not having to ask a staff member every time.

Private rooms for group dinners at Daepae Market Nonhyeon

There's also a private room space toward the back. A 24-hour Gangnam restaurant with room seating for group dinners — hard to beat that, right?!

Is Daepae Market good for Korean BBQ after work in Gangnam?

Thin-sliced pork cooking on the grill

At first I went in thinking thin-sliced pork places are all pretty similar, but eating here, I found there was more difference than I expected. Having a variety of meats and adjustable thickness, a spacious dining area with room seating, and a well-stocked self-serve bar all meant I could mix and match according to my taste.

I was curious whether ordering several kinds of meat would really taste that different. Turns out it does — the beef brisket had a nutty flavor, and the pork belly was, well, just really good as always. Seasoning it with salt and pepper made it even better, so I'd recommend that.

We brought over corn salad, kimchi, green onion kimchi, green onion salad, and various lettuce wraps from the self-serve bar and got ready to really start grilling.

Since it's thin-sliced, it cooks quickly, which was great. I had shown up really hungry, and my mouth started watering right away.

Grill with kimchi and enoki mushrooms cooking together

I used to think all thin-sliced pork was pretty much the same, but grilling and eating kimchi with it, trying it with green onion salad, then with green onion kimchi, then grilling enoki mushrooms too — it turned out I could enjoy it in so many different ways, and I really loved that.

Is the mul naengmyeon at Daepae Market worth ordering?

Mul naengmyeon ordered alongside the meat

And of course, no BBQ meal is complete without mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup), so we ordered one. I'm a total naengmyeon fanatic, so I'm pretty picky about the naengmyeon at BBQ restaurants, haha. There are surprisingly many places where the mul naengmyeon isn't great, but this one totally suited my taste!!

Taking a bite of cool naengmyeon in between meat was great for cutting through the richness. Personally, I'd recommend pairing daepae usamgyeop or daepae samgyeopsal with mul naengmyeon!

Overall, this place changed my initial thought that 'all thin-sliced pork is pretty much the same,' haha. Having a variety of meats and adjustable thickness, plus a huge grill and a solid self-serve bar, meant I could eat as much as I wanted, exactly to my taste.
