Songdo café for a sore-throat day: Ugly Tongue's Inhale smoothie
In short
Ugly Tongue is a health smoothie café on the academy street in Songdo District 1, Haedoji-ro, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon. Two weeks into a stubborn sore throat, the writer ordered the new Inhale smoothie and the basil cheese toast: apple and green grape sweetness, a lift of lime, creamy avocado and a light ginger kick at the back made the very green drink much easier to drink than it looks. Ugly Tongue is not cheap, but getting this many good ingredients in one glass made the return visit feel worth it.

I went back to Ugly Tongue, the smoothie spot in Songdo District 1 I'd written about before haha. It wasn't just a one-time visit — the smoothie I had back then was so good, and the basil cheese toast was totally my taste too, so it kept popping into my head whenever I was nearby. This time I heard they'd added a new menu item, so I rushed over to check it out haha.
Where is Ugly Tongue in Songdo?
Ugly Tongue is located at 160-14 Haedoji-ro, Unit 109, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, near the academy street in Songdo District 1.

Let me show you the visuals first!!!
This one's from my previous visit — the diet smoothie review.

Inside Ugly Tongue: still clean and calm on a second visit
Like last time, the store's white-and-stainless look fits perfectly with the image of a healthy smoothie shop. The cute tongue logo was still there to greet me too lol.

A menu I hadn't seen before!! The Inhale smoothie caught my eye.

They have a tea menu too. And what I personally liked was that the packaging containers are microplastic-free, eco-friendly materials. The smoothies themselves are already made with carefully chosen ingredients, but the fact that even the containers get this much thought made me feel a little better while getting my healthy drink on.

What goes into the new Inhale smoothie?
What I picked this time was Ugly Tongue's new Inhale smoothie. The ingredient list alone was impressive — apple, green grape, avocado, lime, coconut water, ginger, chlorophyll, and honey.
The menu description said it's a combination focused on managing your condition when your throat and airways feel uncomfortable, and I was like... wait, that's literally me right now?? lol. Two weeks of coughing and phlegm — there's no way I could pass this up.
Of course, I didn't think one smoothie would magically cure my cold. But lately my body's been worn out and I haven't been eating properly on a lot of days, so I just wanted to treat myself to one glass packed with good ingredients, just for today. Buying something like this these days feels like I'm taking care of myself, and I like that haha.
Very green, but the Inhale smoothie tastes better than it looks
Just going by the ingredients — avocado, ginger, chlorophyll — you might think, 'isn't this going to taste way too healthy?' lol. I was a little worried too, but thankfully it's delicious.
With apple and green grape in there, the first taste is really fresh and naturally sweet. Then the tart lime aroma comes in, so it never feels heavy — it's really fresh. The coconut water also keeps it from being that thick, gluey smoothie texture.

But thanks to the avocado, the texture is nicely smooth and creamy. So it's not as light as a fruit juice — it feels like a proper drink.
And in the background you get a slight sharp, warm hint of ginger, which turns out to be a nice touch. It's not so strong that it burns your throat — more like it quietly shows up right after the tangy-sweet fruit flavor. The honey smooths the whole thing out, so despite the green color, it went down way easier than I expected.
Healthy but not tasteless — I think that's the biggest strength of Ugly Tongue's smoothies lol.

Is the Inhale smoothie worth the price?
Honestly, Ugly Tongue's smoothies are on the pricier side if you're thinking of a regular café drink. Even on my first visit I was like, 'oh... this is a bit much for one glass' lol.
But when you look at the ingredients one by one, it's not just a bit of fruit blended with a ton of ice. Apple, green grape, avocado, lime, coconut water, ginger, chlorophyll, honey... if you told me to get all of these individually myself, there's no way — I'm the type who'd give up after a few days out of sheer laziness lol.
So that day I just told myself, 'okay, I'll treat myself to something healthy after two rough weeks!' It was pricey, but afterward I didn't feel like I'd wasted money — I felt more satisfied that I'd gotten a bunch of good ingredients in one go. Sometimes spending money on things like this feels worth it haha.

Ordering Ugly Tongue's basil cheese toast again
Did I just get the smoothie and leave? Nope. Don't think of me as that much of a health nut lol. I ordered the basil cheese toast again, which I'd loved so much last time. The moment I saw the menu, I thought 'oh... that was so good last time,' and I couldn't resist.

I'm a huge basil fan to begin with. This time too, the second it came out warm, the smell of toasty bread and basil hit me and my appetite, which I'd been quietly holding back while drinking my smoothie, woke right up lol.

Chewy bread, basil and cheese: why this toast works
Ugly Tongue's basil cheese toast is more of a panini-style toast. The outside is toasted warm and toasty, and the bread itself is really chewy when you bite in. Inside, it's packed with basil and cheese.
One bite and the fragrant basil aroma spreads right away, followed by the savory, salty cheese flavor. And best of all, eaten warm, the cheese stretches long... you just can't resist that.
The basil flavor is pretty strong, so fellow basil lovers like me will really love this. A toast loaded with just cheese can start to feel greasy halfway through, but the constant basil aroma kept it enjoyable all the way to the end.
It also paired surprisingly well with the Inhale smoothie. After a bite of toast, that rich, savory basil-cheese flavor lingers, and then a sip of the refreshing smoothie clears your palate completely.

Another bite of toast... another sip of smoothie... I came here to take care of my health and ended up leaving with happiness too lol.

A small treat after two weeks of a sore throat
Lately, coughing has been rough even at night, and my throat's been uncomfortable all day, so not just my body but my mood too had been kind of down. But stopping by Ugly Tongue that day for a fresh Inhale smoothie and a warm basil cheese toast — even though it's a small thing, it made me feel like 'okay, I did take care of myself today,' and that made me happy.
When you're always putting family first and thinking about the kids' meals before your own, you really do end up eating carelessly a lot of the time. So buying myself a smoothie packed with good ingredients like this felt like more than just buying a drink — it felt like time invested in myself.
Would I go back to Ugly Tongue?
After my first visit to Ugly Tongue, I loved both the smoothie and the basil cheese toast so much that I told myself I'd come back — and this visit was satisfying again haha.
The new Inhale smoothie especially, with the natural sweetness of apple and green grape, the tang of lime, the smooth texture of avocado, and the subtle kick of ginger all coming together, was great because even though it's a health-conscious menu, it didn't taste like something you have to force down. The price is honestly not cheap, but when you're worn out like I've been lately, thinking of one smoothie packed with good ingredients as taking care of yourself made it feel worth it to me.

And the basil cheese toast... well... I'll probably order it again next time too lol. I got it to go and finished it in the car on the way home — feels like I do that every time.
This time I picked Inhale because of my sore throat, so now I'm already curious what smoothie I'll try on my next visit. If you're in Songdo and craving something fresher and healthier than a regular coffee, plus a delicious basil cheese toast on the side, I'd recommend Ugly Tongue again :) Thanks for the meal again this time!
