Chowol Sports Town Korean restaurant for duruchigi: Oneuldo Utja
In short
Oneuldo Utja Chowol is a duruchigi (stir-fried pork) and sotbap (stone-pot rice) restaurant on Sansu-ro in Chowol-eup, Gwangju, Gyeonggi, right beside Chowol Sports Town. On the way to a children's sports competition at Team Up Campus, the family ordered pork duruchigi, sotbap and a jumbo egg roll, and the two-person serving was hard to believe for its size, with seaweed soup and free rice refills from the self-serve bar filling out the meal. Oneuldo Utja Chowol is under 5 minutes by car from Team Up Campus and Gonjiam Ceramics Park and has plenty of parking, making it an easy family lunch on a day out.

Finding a duruchigi restaurant near Team Up Campus in Gonjiam
I went to Gonjiam for a kids' sports competition held at Team Up Campus. While looking for somewhere to eat nearby, I found Oneuldo Utja Chowol and wanted to try their freshly made sotbap (hot stone-pot rice) and spicy duruchigi (stir-fried meat). It happened to be during the Gyeonggi Ceramics Biennale, so Gonjiam Ceramics Park right next door was packed with visitors.
Oneuldo Utja Chowol is less than 5 minutes by car from both Team Up Campus and Gonjiam Ceramics Park, so the accessibility was excellent.

Inside Oneuldo Utja Chowol: room, tables and seating
The restaurant sits right next to Chowol Sports Town, so it was easy to find. Stepping inside, the interior felt clean and spacious. Tables for four were arranged generously with wide spacing between them, making it a solid layout for family outings or group meals.

What's on the menu at Oneuldo Utja Chowol
The menu is a proper duruchigi specialist's lineup — pork duruchigi, squid-and-pork duruchigi, squid duruchigi, and more. Sotbap is ordered separately, though the old-style kimchi jjigae comes with sotbap included by default, which felt like a reasonable price-to-portion setup. There's also a jumbo egg roll that's great for kids, and various add-in options like ramyeon noodles, glass noodles, and tofu to toss into the duruchigi.
We ordered the pork duruchigi, sotbap, and the jumbo egg roll together.

The self-serve bar: side dishes, seaweed soup and rice refills
There was a neatly arranged self-serve corner on one side of the restaurant. Alongside a few small side dishes, there was a system for freely refilling rice if you'd ordered sotbap. On top of that, seaweed soup came included by default, which was a nice surprise. We tried the seaweed soup before the duruchigi arrived — it had a deep, savory flavor, and my kid ate it up.

Pork duruchigi for two: how much food do you actually get?
Shortly after, our pork duruchigi arrived. The pot was piled sky-high with enoki mushrooms, bean sprouts, and long-cut scallions over red-seasoned meat — an impressive first impression.

Pushing the mountain of vegetables aside, I found the pot packed full of seasoned meat underneath. The portion size was hard to believe for two people — I was genuinely surprised. That's when it clicked: I'd found a real Gonjiam gem.

The meat comes pre-cooked, so it's ready to eat as soon as the vegetables on top wilt down a little. There was so much thick yet tender meat — the generosity with ingredients was touching.

The jumbo egg roll our child kept coming back to
The jumbo egg roll that followed lived up to its name, arriving looking like it might spill off the plate. It was quite thick with a soft, well-rolled interior, and my kid polished it off in no time alongside the sotbap.

As the duruchigi bubbled away and we cut the thick meat into bite-sized pieces with scissors, the portion seemed to grow even more. The sauce was rich and deep — great wrapped in fresh lettuce leaves, and just as good mixed into a bowl of warm rice. Thanks to this generous spread, the whole family had a satisfying, happy lunch at this Gonjiam restaurant.

Finishing the meal with sotbap and nurungji sungnyung
The sotbap portion was plenty too. After scooping out the freshly cooked rice into a bowl, water was poured into the pot to make a savory nurungji (scorched rice) in advance. After the spicy, richly seasoned duruchigi, sipping the nutty nurungji sungnyung (scorched rice tea) at the end soothed my stomach and left my mouth feeling clean.
The location was great and parking was convenient, making it a really good spot to stop by for a nearby event or outing. I'd highly recommend Oneuldo Utja Chowol, this Gonjiam restaurant, to anyone visiting the Chowol Station or Gonjiam area.
