Songdo sushi restaurant for melt-in-your-mouth otoro: Sushi Doku
In short
Sushi Doku The Songdo is a Japanese restaurant on the second floor of Onesta Mall in Yeonsu, Incheon. My husband and I ordered two Premium Sushi Set Meals at 25,900 won each and loved the brush-on soy sauce and review-event otoro sushi. Sushi Doku The Songdo is one to revisit when I’m craving refined sushi.

I found a seriously, seriously delicious and upscale sushi place!!!! It’s right here in Incheon too—who knew there was a gem like this nearby? Let me introduce Sushi Doku The Songdo in Songdo, where my husband and I ate with our jaws practically on the floor :-)
Parking and reservations at Sushi Doku The Songdo in Onesta Mall

Sushi Doku is on the second floor of Onesta Mall in Songdo. Park in the underground lot and head up. * 2 hours of free parking *

I went up to the second floor looking around like, “Where is it? Where is it?” Then I spotted a place that looked upscale right from the outside—and it was Sushi Doku ˘͈ᵕ˘͈

If there’s a wait, make a reservation through Catchtable. And if you don’t reserve, parties of five or more may have to sit separately.

There was a menu displayed out front, so we could take a quick look before going in.
Seats screened with fabric
It was packed inside, so I couldn’t take many photos, but each table is screened with fabric like this, which gives you a little privacy while you eat. Luckily, I had reserved and got a corner table!

We ordered two Premium Sushi Set Meals. Each one comes with 10 pieces of sushi—flounder, red sea bream, salmon, squid, northern pink shrimp, akami, red shrimp, red snow crab meat, eel, and ankimo—plus half a bowl of udon, tempura, salad, and truffle chawanmushi (steamed egg custard).
What came with the Premium Sushi Set Meal

This is the soy sauce on the table.

This is what each person gets with the set! Such a good combination, right? Sushi, udon, tempura, and salad too ᐡ⌯‘・‘⌯ᐡ♡

But more than that, look at this,, Does this sushi quality even make sense!? I was screaming internally when I saw it. What really won me over was the red snow crab meat—it wasn’t artificial-looking at all; it came out like real crab meat,, I’d never seen that before. This is probably truffle chawanmushi? It has this unusual flavor somewhere between steamed egg and pudding. There are things like ginkgo nuts inside too.

The salad had a sweet, tasty dressing.

This is the udon from the set.

The udon itself isn’t particularly special—just regular udon with pleasantly bouncy noodles. The cute fish cake is the highlight!

The tempura includes one shrimp tempura and one piece of karaage (Japanese fried chicken).

This one comes with sauce already drizzled over it, and that sauce is the key,,!!! The shrimp was so plump that the shrimp tempura tasted twice as good to me haha
How to eat sushi with the soy sauce brush
Before getting into the main event—the sushi—we poured the soy sauce. You don’t open the lid; you just tilt it and it comes out.

Then there’s this brush!!! You get one per person, and you brush the soy sauce onto your sushi before eating. Like this :-) Honestly, this was my first time eating sushi in such a fancy way,,

I only photographed six kinds, but isn’t the quality insane!? I’d definitely eaten these sushi types before, but they tasted like I was trying them for the first time,, ʕっ'^'cʔ

But the top pick of them all was this sushi right here.

It was otoro sushi that we received through the review event and wow,,,,,, this is what people mean when they say it melts in your mouth. But it wasn’t only the fish disappearing—somehow, amazingly, the rice vanished with it too. No, really, it’s a feeling you have to experience for yourself!!!

When you go to pay after finishing, they have mouthwash, floss, and toothpicks all ready for you—such top-notch thoughtfulness, seriously. It is a bit pricey, but every piece of sushi feels refined, so I want to bring my parents here next time too!!
