Songdo sushi restaurant with brush-on soy sauce: Sushi Doku The Songdo
In short
Sushi Doku The Songdo is a Japanese restaurant on the second floor of Onesta in Yeonsu, Incheon. After a 10–15 minute Sunday wait, I had the 25,900 won Premium Sushi Special Set with 10 pieces of sushi, udon, fried items, and truffle chawanmushi. A great pick when you want sushi and hearty sides together.

Sushi Doku The Songdo on Onesta's second floor
Sushi Doku The Songdo, located on the second floor of Songdo's Onesta building, has seriously good sushi. It's a popular Songdo spot where you almost always have to wait on weekends. It is clean, the sushi is delicious, and it is always popular for family meals or dates. It is opposite Outback, and you can register for free parking in the Onesta building. B1 is always full, so B2 is probably the better bet.

On weekdays, break time runs from 15:00–17:00, but on weekends it starts at 14:30! There are seats set up for waiting, so you can wait comfortably. I arrived at 11:15 on Sunday, but it was already full, so I waited around 10–15 minutes.
A neat interior divided with curtains

The space is divided here and there with curtains, so it feels private.

It was completely packed, so it was hard to take interior photos, but the décor was neat and sophisticated.

Sushi Doku has set menus, so you get udon, salad, karaage, and steamed egg together. Considering the whole set, I think the value is pretty good.

You can order à la carte dishes as well as set menus, so you can always order more if it is not enough.

Sushi Doku's soy sauce looks so interesting.

Sushi Doku provides a brush-like tool for applying soy sauce, which is nice because you can eat neatly. We ordered the Premium Sushi Special Set!
The Premium Sushi Set consists of 10 pieces: halibut, red sea bream, salmon, ika (squid), northern pink shrimp, akami (lean tuna), red shrimp, red snow crab meat, eel, and ankimo (monkfish liver). It also comes with half a serving of udon, fried items, salad, and truffle chawanmushi (savory steamed egg custard).
What comes with the Premium Sushi Set
Premium Sushi Set (₩25,800). The Premium Sushi Set looked so abundant and complete.

I am usually the type who does not get full from sushi alone, but this set has so much in it that when I have the Premium Sushi Set, I am barely hungry for the rest of the day.

You get 10 pieces of sushi. Maybe because it is premium sushi, there is no inari or egg; the higher-end fish like ankimo and eel really stand out. The freshly fried shrimp tempura and chicken karaage arrive with sauce on them!

The shrimp tempura was super crisp and tender 👏 My friend did not eat theirs, so I had one extra haha. You also get two pieces of chicken karaage, so there are three fried items in total—so filling,,,

Chewy udon and truffle chawanmushi
Sushi Doku's udon is delicious! The noodles are really chewy, and the broth is refreshing and tasty. Sometimes the udon noodles in a set menu are not great, but Sushi Doku's are so chewy and good that I always finish them.

There is cute Nemo-style fish cake in it, and it is tasty haha.

Truffle chawanmushi. It is steamed egg with truffle in it, and the truffle aroma was so good. The steamed egg was soft too, making it the perfect dish to have with sushi.

There are little grain-like bits on top, and they were crunchy like a snack, so the texture was really nice! With the soy-sauce brush, it is easy to apply soy sauce and eat. No need to worry about dropping your sushi into the soy sauce haha.

How the 10 premium sushi pieces tasted
The halibut was chewy and fresh... no words... the best 👍 Sushi Doku's live fish is all fresh and in great condition, so every piece of sushi tastes clean and delicious.

This shrimp sushi was not just ordinary cooked shrimp—it was much tastier. Was this the northern pink shrimp,,? I do not know the name exactly, but this sushi was so good.

The salmon was so soft and fresh too. It is a classic for a reason, so it tasted even better.

Was this red sea bream,,,? It had garnish on top, and this was good too 👍

Red snow crab meat shrimp, which you do not often get elsewhere. The crab meat was nutty and soft, with a generous amount—good.

The eel was so big that it was hard to eat in one bite. It was seasoned just right, and the eel was soft and delicious.

Red shrimp. It was not regular cooked shrimp but a slightly upgraded(?) shrimp, so it was even tastier.

The ika was chewy, fresh, and delicious too. Overall, the sushi quality was good, so I totally understand why it is such a popular Songdo restaurant. Plus, all the side dishes in the set were high quality as well. If you are looking for a great Songdo sushi spot for a family meal or date, I recommend Sushi Doku The Songdo ‼️
