Masan Ssamjangjip: a Korean set-meal restaurant in Masan

I want to introduce a Korean restaurant where I had a really satisfying meal while out on a drive around Masan with friends. We got to enjoy a huge spread with all kinds of side dishes — I usually like Korean food like stir-fried pork and stews, so seeing the table fully set really got me eating without a second thought haha 🤣 Here's my review of Ssamjangjip, a set-meal restaurant I found while looking for good eats in Masan.

Where is Masan Ssamjangjip, and what are the hours and parking?

• Address: 2F, 65 Haean-daero, Masanhappo-gu, Changwon-si, Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea

Ssamjangjip is located on the 2nd floor near 315 Marine Park (315해양누리공원), and since we drove there, the first thing I checked was parking.

There's a public parking lot right across from the restaurant. If you're driving, just search '315해양누리공원 제1주차장' (315 Marine Park Lot 1).

Wood-toned interior and table seating at Masan Ssamjangjip

Once you head up to the 2nd floor, you're greeted by Ssamjangjip's wood-toned decor right from the entrance. Stepping inside, the interior felt warm and comfortable — Korean in feel but built with wood materials. Somehow it also gave off a familiar vibe, like something you might've seen once in a YouTube travel video~

Toward the back of the restaurant there were large tables set up, with seating for groups of 4 up to 8, making it look like a great spot for family meals too.

What comes with the 14,900-won spicy pork set?

Ssamjangjip's set menu comes in three options — jeyuk (spicy stir-fried pork), braised beef short ribs, or grilled mackerel — a lineup that's easy to pick from since everyone from kids to grandparents tends to like at least one. That said, if ingredients run out, you might only be able to order certain sets, so if you have your heart set on a specific one, I'd recommend calling ahead.

Once I ordered the jeyuk jeongsik, the side dishes started arriving one by one until the whole table was covered! It was so generous that it was genuinely hard to fit it all in one photo. Alongside the stir-fried pork as the main, there was stew, jeon (savory pancakes), tofu, and a whole range of banchan (side dishes) — it was fun just picking through everything.

Living alone, it's honestly not easy to lay out this many side dishes at home...

It's usually one main dish with a few sides at most. So seeing a full table with jeon, namul (seasoned vegetables), and all sorts of banchan again after a while genuinely felt like eating a proper home-cooked meal. Tasting everything one by one, none of it was too salty — the seasoning was spot on, and the rice just kept disappearing~

How the spicy stir-fried pork and doenjang stew tasted

The pork was evenly coated in seasoning, with that familiar, slightly sweet jeyuk bokkeum (spicy stir-fried pork) flavor. It's delicious on its own, but the real way to eat it is piled generously on a lettuce wrap!

The doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) that came alongside the jeyuk was loaded with vegetables and seafood — one spoonful and the clean, refreshing seafood flavor mixed with a touch of spice left my mouth feeling really cleansed!

After finishing the meal, if you head toward the kitchen area, there's a self-bar set up with fruit and light snacks,

and there's also a Hangang instant ramyeon machine, so if you're still a little hungry, you can boil one up to your liking!

Worth a stop on a Masan drive?

This was a place we stumbled into while driving around Masan with friends, and I ended up leaving fuller than expected thanks to how generous the spread of side dishes was. Since living alone means I rarely get to prepare this many banchan at once, it personally felt like I got a real home-cooked meal for the first time in a while. With jeyuk bokkeum, doenjang jjigae, and a whole array of side dishes to enjoy together, this seems like an easy place to visit for anyone who likes Korean food. If you're looking for a filling Korean set meal in Masan, Ssamjangjip is worth keeping in mind!
