Inside Double D: a studio with its own training room

There's a training space set up on one side of the shop. Seems like they run beauty education here too. Seeing this made me think this place must really know its stuff. Made me even more excited for the lash lift.

And the shop is incredibly clean and spacious. Tastefully decorated. Pinterest vibes, the kind of place you'd call aesthetically on point — and it really seemed to reflect the designer's own taste. Clean, spacious, pretty. A totally different atmosphere from small, newly-opened shops.

I arrived a bit early and waited. There was a customer ahead of me too.

Asking for the curl I wanted: one that clears the eyelid

At Double D, you first fill out a chart. They also asked what kind of perm I like — my preference is "tightly lifted, not straight but with curl, and doesn't touch the eyelid." After trying a few places, I'd run into ones that touched my eyelid or ones that lifted with a sunflower shape and no curl, so I ended up making this specific request.

How the 50-minute lash perm felt (I fell asleep)

The treatment bed! Comfortable and clean. Plus a friendly, fast-handed designer! Her hands moved really fast during the treatment, and even with the tape on, it was surprisingly comfortable. I closed my eyes and fell asleep before I even had a chance to feel uncomfortable.

Best of all, she didn't talk too much, so I got to relax in a calm atmosphere — loved that. The treatment took about 50 minutes! Clean shop, good music, nice scent. Honestly, an environment where falling asleep was inevitable.

And honestly the designer was so pretty and put-together that I felt a bit shy. But pretty designer = great aesthetic sense, makes others pretty too. That formula never seems to fail.

She did a little eyebrow grooming too, which made maintaining my brows way easier afterward. Since they offer brow consulting, the shape was exactly to my liking too. How long does a Korean lash perm last? Two weeks in Southeast Asia

The most important part: it's now exactly two weeks since my treatment at Double D, and the lasting power is really impressive. These are photos taken throughout my Thailand trip — lashes with presence anyone could notice.

I rub my eyes a lot, so by the 2-3 week mark my lashes usually start bending or flipping, but the original curl is still holding almost exactly as it was. Even after a summer trip to Southeast Asia, in that humid heat, my lashes are still going strong — I really love that.
