Paju Unjeong lamb skewers with mala tang broth: Sannaemaeul Yang
In short
Sannaemaeul Yang Kkochi & Qingdao is a lamb skewer and Chinese pub on the 2nd floor of World Tower 3 in Sannaemaeul, Unjeong New City, Paju. The order was two servings of lamb skewers grilled on a charcoal rotating grill, plus guobaorou (sweet-and-sour fried pork) and mala tang with extra meat, and the mala broth cut through the lamb's richness so it kept going down easily. It is a combination even diners sensitive to gamey lamb can enjoy comfortably.

A lamb skewer restaurant in Sannaemaeul, Unjeong, Paju — Yang Kkochi & Qingdao.

These days with the big temperature swings and chilly wind, I keep thinking about golden-brown lamb skewers turning over charcoal! When you want to meet friends for dinner and chat over something delicious, it's weirdly hard to find a menu that never fails, haha.
Are the lamb skewers really free of any gamey smell?

I finally made it to Sannaemaeul Yang Kkochi & Qingdao, known around Sannaemaeul for doing lamb skewers well! Normally I can't eat lamb if there's even a hint of gamey smell, but so many reviews raved about the meat quality here that I walked in with high expectations!

The moment I stepped inside, the savory smell of charcoal wafted over and my stomach immediately started rumbling, T_T.

They even had aprons ready — nice touch!

True to being a well-known Chinese restaurant near Unjeong Lake Park's Sannaemaeul, they sell a wide range of Chinese dishes!

Ordering is done through a tablet, which was pretty convenient~ There are so many menu items you basically have to go on a mission to try them all, haha.
The full order: two servings of lamb skewers, guobaorou and mala tang
What side dishes come free with the meal?

The basic banchan (side dishes) set is pickled onion, radish salad, peanuts, and zha cai (pickled mustard greens)!
Extra seasonings are self-serve, and they even had curry powder and a de-spiced powder version for kids who can't eat spicy food~ Great for coming here with children too~
Lamb skewers on the charcoal rotating grill

We ordered the signature two servings of lamb skewers, crispy-outside-chewy-inside guobaorou, and mala tang for the broth~!

As soon as we ordered, the charcoal came out and the gorgeous lamb skewers were set up — the meat cuts were thick and the fat-to-lean ratio was absolutely perfect!

Even the waiting time, watching the skewers spin round and round on the auto-rotating grill until golden brown, was so happy, haha.
I dipped the perfectly browned skewer into cumin powder and took a bite — wow, the juices burst in my mouth~!
Guobaorou: sweet-and-sour fried pork

The freshly fried guobaorou was coated all over in a sweet-and-sour sauce, so it was crispy and chewy at the same time!
The portion was seriously huge too, and it makes such a great drinking snack, T_T.
Mala tang with extra meat

Look at the gorgeous basic mala tang with added meat. The spicy, hearty mala broth cut right through the greasiness of the lamb skewers, so it just kept going down endlessly~!

One sip of the broth and 'this is insane' just came out naturally — my partner and I both said 'this is so good?~!' and cleaned the whole bowl, haha.
The portion was really generous too, basically enough for two servings??
And a complimentary bean sprout stir-fry on the house. But boss, if you're giving this to every table, aren't you going to lose money at this rate~?
Make sure to check the country of origin labels too, nice and thorough~
Is Sannaemaeul Yang Kkochi & Qingdao worth a meal with family and friends?
