Gijang restaurant with cheesy lasagna and carbonara: Bueokgan

In short

Bueokgan Restaurant, Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets is a Western restaurant in Gijang, Busan. We had lasagna, Kung Pao chicken pilaf, and rich carbonara for 62,000 won. Verdict: the food was not ultra-fast, but the atmosphere and flavors were satisfying.

The weather was so nice on the way over that I snapped photos here and there.

The route to the outlet on a beautiful day

Bueokgan across from Daiso, beside the wine shop

First, head across to the side opposite Daiso. BUUK is located right next to the wine shop.

The restaurant itself had such an upscale feel.

The upscale atmosphere at Bueokgan

The waiting area and sofa looked comfy, the little decorative pieces looked lovely, and I liked the whole thing.

The lighting did its part in setting the mood. It is a great place to come with family, friends, or your partner! It felt like they had not spared any expense on the interior, haha. I brought shots from the front and the side, and captured the interior from this angle too. If you are desperately looking for a good date-restaurant among Busan's Western restaurants, I highly recommend this place.

There are high chairs, so it is good for family gatherings. There is also a charger in one area of the restaurant, so feel free to use it.

What we ordered and the sold-out notice

The menu has soup, pizza, gnocchi, Korean beef striploin steak, and more. Set menus also come with salad or juice, so keep that in mind.

It is nice that they announce sold-out items on the menu in advance. I had originally wanted the anchovy oil pasta, but it was sold out—one little moment of heartbreak..

I think we spent 20 minutes agonizing over the order and 5 minutes staring at the food.. Let us look at the food photos. ⬇️

Lasagna with tomato sauce

Lasagna layered with cheese

What you are looking at now is the lasagna. It had a tomato-sauce flavor almost like meat spaghetti, and the finely minced meat gave a pleasantly satisfying bite. It was sweet and tangy, with little pops of meaty flavor. There was plenty of minced meat, so it definitely had texture. A classic style that is easy to enjoy~~

This dish was so hot that it even came with two plates. (🔥 Please watch out for burns.)

Hot lasagna with a plate underneath

It is a main-dish-level plate that would be great to share with a lasagna lover. It seemed to contain béchamel sauce. Maybe because they layer cheese during cooking, the cheese was stacked layer upon layer. The way it stretched loooong, exactly as I had hoped, completely won me over~ It went so well with the sauce that the more I ate, the more I understood why this place is known for Western food.

We served ourselves as much as we wanted onto our small plates.

I am a fairly picky foodie, but I was satisfied, totally satisfied~~

A meal with carbonara

Rich carbonara and thick-cut bacon

Wondering if my arteries might get the message, I went straight on to the carbonara. It was plated so prettily that the visuals were exploding~ It cannot compare with making it yourself at home.

Beautifully plated carbonara

Have you ever been disappointed by carbonara elsewhere because it was a little watery? This one is properly rich and thick, so it will not fall short of expectations. The portion is not small either, so you can really dig in. Bites of thick-cut bacon show up throughout the meal, and that is the real charm. The texture was so smooth and lovely.

Ahh.. you know when the visuals feel like they have done all the work.. haha. The chef at Bueokgan Restaurant, Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets is quite good at cooking, isn't he? It felt like a lot of care had gone into it.

Kung Pao chicken pilaf

Large, juicy Kung Pao chicken pilaf

We divided up the roles and click, click~ If possible, you really should order this menu item. Why? Because it is seriously delicious, haha. Chicken flavor never lets you down. It needs no further explanation. And the chicken leg pieces are really big—big enough that eating one in a single bite would be a challenge.

I diligently pulled one apart to check the inside. The gloss was seriously amazing. So tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned—how could I not love it? After calming down from my surprise, I took another shot.

The fried rice had peperoncino in it, so it was a little spicy. It was deliciously spicy, so kids might or might not be able to eat it (?) As for the heat level? About one mild 🌶. I really enjoyed it.

The sweet-and-tangy pickles seemed homemade. Because they were there, we could keep eating to the end without getting tired of it. They did not taste factory-made, so approved.

For food of this quality and a meal in an atmosphere like this, I think I could come to work here five days a week.

Atmospheric Western-style dining table

The food did not arrive at fast-food speed, but I want to let you know through this post that we ate it so deliciously.

Empty dishes after the meal

We cleared the plates in no time and were amazed. We kept saying we were so full that there was no need to go anywhere else.
