Two of us ate until we were completely full for ₩66,000. While hunting for good food in Gwanggyo, I decided to try something a bit different this time and searched for lamb ribs specifically — that's how I landed on Hwaro Yangmi Gwanggyo Sanghyeon branch.

Hwaro Yangmi Gwanggyo Sanghyeon Branch

Indoor parking is available — just pull into the Gwanggyo Advance Hill parking lot. I usually prefer places that use young lamb when I eat lamb, so I went looking for a spot like that and ended up here.
What especially caught my attention was that Hwaro Yangmi flies in Australian lamb under a year old, kept chilled the whole way, never frozen.
I'd never heard of lamb being flown in chilled like that before, and I was curious above all whether the usual gamey smell would really be absent. So I went and tried it myself. Bottom line: I barely noticed any gamey smell at all, and the texture was tender yet chewy — more satisfying than I expected. I'll lay out exactly what we ordered and the price breakdown at the end.
So what kind of place is this Gwanggyo lamb rib restaurant?
It's a spot for grilling premium chilled lamb ribs over charcoal. Hwaro Yangmi specializes in premium chilled lamb ribs, using top-grade Australian lamb under a year old flown in still chilled. Maybe that's why the raw meat looked good from the moment it hit the table.
The red color was vivid and the meat had a nice sheen — it looked appetizing even before it touched the fire.
Every table had a partition, giving some separation from the next table over. That made me think this would work well for people looking for a group dinner spot in Gwanggyo, and it was also comfortable for a casual meal with friends or family.

One big plus was the terrace seating, which means you can bring your dog along. Pretty charming spot, right?
How was the lamb smell?
Based on what I ate, that distinctive gamey lamb smell was barely noticeable.
Honestly, whether it's young lamb is a pretty important factor for me when choosing where to eat lamb. I came here for that reason again, and eating it confirmed it — I could enjoy the meat's natural flavor without any discomfort. All the side dishes were good too. The cabbage kimchi in particular was really tasty.

They grilled the loin and shoulder rack for us first.

I tried the loin first — tender and delicious — but personally I liked the shoulder rack even more.

The texture was tender but still had a satisfying chew, and the flavor of the lamb itself really came through.
It was great plain, but a dip of salt or wasabi gave it a whole different character depending on your taste.

A lot of people worry that lamb will leave their clothes smelling afterward, but on this visit my clothes barely picked up any meat smell even after the meal — a nice surprise personally.
How much food do you get for two people?
Between the two of us, once we added the meal items on top of the set, we were seriously stuffed. What we ordered was the Special Mixed Set — ₩54,000 for a set that serves two, made up of shoulder rack, lamb loin, and seasoned rib fingers, 490g total.

On top of that we added egg fried rice for ₩6,000 and beef noodle soup for ₩6,000.
Two of us spent ₩66,000 total, and since we didn't stop at just the meat but added two meal items on top, we were really, really full. I'd worried there might not be enough, but if anything we finished more than satisfied.
What about the seasoned rib fingers and the meal dishes?
The seasoned rib fingers had a spicy Chinese-style seasoning that gave them a completely different flavor from the earlier cuts. After finishing the loin and shoulder rack, the staff grilled up the seasoned rib fingers next.

They already came well seasoned, so you didn't need much extra sauce. The slight spiciness plus the distinctive Chinese-style seasoning gave a clearly different feel from the more plain-tasting loin or shoulder rack.
The mushrooms grilled alongside were bursting with juice and were delicious eaten together with the meat.
The beef noodle soup we ordered as a meal dish was also good. The warm broth was loaded with beef and noodles, and the stock was deep and rich. The pepper flavor in particular was quite strong. It was a great pairing with the lamb ribs — warm noodles and broth working well together.

The egg fried rice really lived up to its name — it practically shouted "I'm made of egg!" with every bite.
The savory egg flavor came through clearly, and it went well eaten alongside the lamb. If eating lamb ribs nonstop feels like a bit much, adding one of these meal dishes seems like a good move.
Does it work as a group dinner spot in Gwanggyo?
Between the partitioned seating and the variety of dishes, it seemed like a solid option for a group dinner. Hwaro Yangmi doesn't just serve lamb ribs — apparently you can also enjoy a range of Chinese dishes here.

They also carried Chinese liquors — I spotted bottles like Gongfujiu, Fenjiu, Yanghe Daqu, Tianzhilan, and Mengzhilan.

I drove that day so I couldn't drink, but I could tell a glass of Chinese liquor would pair really well with the lamb ribs. And with partitions at every table, even a larger group dinner party can eat in a somewhat private space, which I liked.
Another thing that stood out was the terrace seating. On a nice day you can eat outside, and it looked like a space you could use with a dog too — appealing on that front as well. The weather was genuinely great the day I visited — blue sky, lush greenery around — which made for a different vibe from eating indoors, a great way to enjoy the meat.
After the meal, you could also pick an ice cream. A nice, clean way to finish up.

How I ate it
Personally, the shoulder rack beat the loin, and the near-total absence of gamey smell was satisfying. On top of that, the staff were friendly, the meat clearly well cared for, and the restaurant itself felt clean. I liked watching the raw meat go straight onto the charcoal, and eating the loin and shoulder rack first before the seasoned rib fingers let me really notice the difference in flavor.
Two of us had the ₩54,000 Special Mixed Set plus egg fried rice and beef noodle soup, for ₩66,000 total. The portion wasn't lacking at all — if anything we ate until we were completely full. It left me thinking once again, "lamb really should be young lamb." Since they also have a full range of Chinese dishes beyond the lamb ribs, I'd like to come back and try some of those alongside the meat next time.
In one line: a good Gwanggyo lamb rib spot if you want tender young lamb over charcoal with no gamey smell.
If you're like me and hesitate over lamb rib restaurants because of the smell, this place is worth a visit. The terrace seating looked especially charming on a nice day. So, when you eat lamb ribs — are you Team Loin or Team Shoulder Rack?
