These days, who brings home just a bar of tangerine chocolate as a Jeju souvenir? There's so much cute, delicious, trendy stuff now! While searching for something better, I found Today Jeju at Shilla Duty Free Jeju branch. They make a product called Harubangne, a mashup of hareubang (the stone grandfather statue) and madeleine — the shape is super cute, the flavors are varied, and the packaging is pretty, so it's perfect for gifts. Let's go check it out. Heads up: you need to go in through the left door of the duty-free shop.
At first I thought the shop was inside the duty-free area, so I walked in and did a full loop, couldn't find it, and had to ask a staff member,,

Inside the Today Jeju store: atmosphere and souvenir goods
Walking inside, the place is decked out in orange tones, basalt rock, and dol hareubang statues, giving it a strong Jeju vibe — fun just to browse.
Beyond Harubangne, they also sell Harubang Sand and various merch, so it's also a good stop for Jeju travel souvenirs.
What is Harubangne, the Jeju hareubang-shaped madeleine?
As the name suggests, Harubangne combines hareubang and madeleine.

They say they prioritize using Jeju-grown ingredients, plus organic flour and organic brown sugar.
Also, a portion of profits goes toward supporting child welfare, so the owner clearly has a warm heart.
The logo has a slight Hermès feel, which cracked me up. 'Je-rmès'... no wait, 'Madelein-ermès'~
Haha, isn't the hareubang face just adorably dopey-looking? Too cute. Apparently the design and trademark are both registered with the Korean Intellectual Property Office.
Harubangne 8-flavor gift set: price and what's inside
I went with the 8-flavor Harubangne gift set (₩28,200). The 4-flavor one was ₩14,600, and the chocolate-coated versions are priced separately again.
There are eight flavors — hallabong tangerine, matcha, carrot, snow lotus, Earl Grey, black sesame, chocolate, and fig — ranging from distinctly Jeju ingredients to familiar dessert flavors.
It's a gift that's packed full of Jeju vibes, so whoever receives it would probably love it. I wish someone would give me a gift like this.
Eating the ang-butter Harubangne on the street after black pork
Ang-butter Harubangne, yum.
The two of us tried it as a walking dessert right after eating black pork. The madeleine itself is really soft. It's not overly sweet, so it's not heavy at all, and the combo of red bean and butter sandwiched inside the soft madeleine is really good.
Why the scrunched-up face haha; The sweetness of the red bean paired with the nutty richness of the butter made it a great palate cleanser.
I only took photos of the matcha and fig flavors early on,,,haha. As expected, both were super soft and moist, with the fig and matcha flavors coming through subtly and beautifully. Haha, in the end I ate all of them, and each of the eight flavors really showed off its own distinct taste and aroma.
Is Harubangne worth buying as a Jeju gift?
The Harubangne I bought at Today Jeju, Shilla Duty Free Jeju branch, is a madeleine shaped like the Jeju hareubang. The flavors are varied, the colors and shapes are pretty, and the box is perfect for gifting!
Overall the madeleines aren't overly sweet, they're soft and moist, and each one gives off its own subtle flavor and aroma. The store also has Harubang Sand and other merch, plus a cutely decorated photo zone, so it's fun just to look around.
If you're looking for a Jeju travel gift that's a bit more Jeju-flavored and cute than the usual souvenir, this place is worth a visit.
