Late-night potato and mushroom slices in Seongsu: Pizza Slice Seoul

In short

Pizza Slice Seoul is an American-style pizza-by-the-slice shop on the basement level of an office building near Seongsu intersection in Seongdong, Seoul. Arriving late, just before closing, the writer ordered what was left in the showcase — one potato pizza slice, one mushroom pizza slice and garlic bread — and found the potato slice light and nutty while the mushroom slice tasted a little salty. Pizza Slice Seoul suits a solo visit when a whole pie is too much, though the popular slices call for an earlier daytime trip.

A go-to spot for solo pizza slices in Seongsu

Pizza Slice Seoul: pizza by the slice for solo diners in Seongsu

I sometimes head out to Seongsu-dong for errands or plans and end up needing to eat alone! Pizza might feel like an unusual choice for solo dining in Seongsu, but Pizza Slice Seoul turned out to be perfect for a light, easy meal by myself. Instead of ordering a whole pie, which can feel like too much, this place sells pizza by the slice. That makes it ideal for solo diners, and also great for groups where everyone wants to pick a different slice — a real Seongsu favorite! As an American-style pizza shop with serious New York vibes, I was excited before I even walked in.

Pizza Slice Seoul sits at 159 Achasan-ro, B1, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, very close to Seongsu intersection! It's in the basement of an office building surrounded by companies, so it's perfect for a workday lunch. The location is super convenient to get to, whether you're coming from nearby offices or just strolling around. It's an easy walk from the subway too, so it works well for meeting up with people. If you're wandering the alleys of Seongsu-dong and want a quick bite, this is a great stop!

Stairs leading down to the basement level where Pizza Slice Seoul is located

I walked over that day and headed straight down the stairs to the basement level! Once you're down there, you'll first spot a coffee shop — don't worry, just walk past it and keep going inward, and the pizza shop appears!

Entrance to the shop, reached by walking past a basement coffee shop

True to its status as a hidden Seongsu-dong favorite, there's real fun in tracking down this little hideaway. The savory smell of American pizza was already drifting out from the entrance.

What Pizza Slice Seoul looks like late, just before closing

Quiet interior of Pizza Slice Seoul right before closing time

By the time I arrived at Pizza Slice Seoul it was nearly closing time, so the whole place was very quiet! I imagine during lunch rush or weekend peak hours it's a lively, hip scene.

Pizza showcase with only a few slices remaining

Visiting so late meant there weren't many slices left in the showcase, which was a bit disappointing! Still, I picked whatever looked good from what remained and dug in quickly.

It's a totally comfortable spot for a quiet solo meal in Seongsu — no pressure at all!

English-only menu board and prices at Pizza Slice Seoul

Menu board written only in English near the counter

Looking at the menu board in front of the counter at Pizza Slice Seoul, everything was written in English! I get that this fits the current Seongsu vibe, but it would've been more convenient to also have a Korean menu. That part was a bit of a letdown, but the hip American pizza feel of Seongsu was definitely there!

Prices run a bit high for slice pizza, but a set with a cold drink starts in the ₩10,000s, which isn't bad given Seongsu-dong's cost of living! A simple but satisfying pizza combo.

What the writer ordered: potato slice, mushroom slice, garlic bread

Ordering at the counter from what was left before closing

With closing time near, there weren't many options left, so I made the most of what remained! I ordered one potato pizza slice, one mushroom pizza slice, and a garlic bread. The popular slices were already sold out, so next time I'll definitely come earlier in the day.

Warmed-up pizza slices and garlic bread served

Everything came out warmed up and hot pretty quickly!

Potato pizza slice: light, nutty potato topping

The potato pizza had thinly sliced potatoes piled generously on top and baked. I really love potato pizza in general, and this one wasn't too salty — light and savory, right up my alley!

The chewiness of the thin American-style crust paired with the potatoes was genuinely delicious.

Mushroom pizza slice: loaded with mushrooms and salty enough for beer

The mushroom pizza was piled so high with mushrooms that they were the first thing you noticed!

If you're not into mushrooms, the look of it might put you off, but if you love mushrooms, the deep flavor will win you over! The healthy mushroom flavor was nice, but it was a little salty for my taste — I think it would go perfectly with a beer.

Garlic bread: real garlic, not the sweet kind

Finally, the garlic bread was a totally different flavor from the sweet garlic bread I was expecting!

The bread itself was super chewy, but since I'm not a big garlic fan, it was a little much for me.

But if you love real, strong garlic flavor, you'll probably enjoy this a lot!
