Apgujeong nail salon coffin shape change, vampire burgundy: Naeil Didi

In short

Naeil Didi is a nail salon on the 6th floor near Apgujeong Rodeo Station in Gangnam, Seoul, specializing in slim natural nails, extensions and wedding nails. At Naeil Didi the writer's existing almond shape was reshaped into a coffin shape, three burgundy shades were tested on the nails, and the set was finished as a one-color manicure in 'Vampire', a burgundy brown. Naeil Didi took on the shape-change request without fuss, so the autumn burgundy-brown nails came out exactly as planned.

It was already time to change my nails again haha.. and I happened to have plans in Apgujeong right around this time, so I decided to get my nails done at Apgujeong Rodeo this time!

I was searching for a nail salon that could shape nails cleanly and Naeil Didi in Apgujeong Rodeo instantly caught my eye. This is my review of Naeil Didi — I was satisfied with everything from the shape to the color to the staff's service!

Inside Naeil Didi: four stations by big windows

When you open the door and walk into Naeil Didi, the pedicure area is right there, and there are 4 stations total for services. It has a really clean feel.

Most nail salons tend to feel a bit closed-in, but Apgujeong Rodeo nail salon Naeil Didi has large windows, so I never felt stuffy the whole time I was getting my nails done. It's not a private one-person salon — there are 4 stations total, so it looks like you could get your nails done together with a friend haha. I visited on a weekday evening after work and the place was still full of customers. Truly lives up to being an Apgujeong Rodeo nail hotspot.

The assigned service station at Naeil Didi
Nails before gel removal

Gel removal, nail care and the almond-to-coffin shape change

Once you sit down at the assigned station, Naeil Didi starts right away with removing your existing gel nails! They told me to say something if it got too hot during removal, so I could relax through the whole process.

Hand receiving cuticle care

The care was thorough too haha. My cuticles ended up completely clean, and I never felt uncomfortable or in pain the whole time. Oh, and I'm not sure if it was just for my session, but the person who did the removal and the person who did the nail work were different! It made no difference at all though haha.

They asked me what shape I wanted this time, and I asked to change from my existing almond shape to coffin haha. I wanted burgundy-brown nails that suited fall, but I felt almond might look a little too witch-like...!

Naeil Didi's color chart and testing three burgundy shades

While they were shaping my nails, I asked to see Naeil Didi's color chart to browse! This one is apparently their new collaboration collection with Yuja X Didibu. They said it just came out on September 16th. It's a skin-tone syrup line made to suit every skin tone! I really wanted to do burgundy this time so I was a bit sad, but next time I definitely want to try these delicate colors. Ginger peach and silky nude are so my style.

I browsed through the syrup nail options. Most other nail salons only offer around 3 color tests, but Apgujeong Rodeo nail salon Naeil Didi said they do up to 5. Such a precious service for indecisive people like me. I asked which burgundy shade customers have been asking for a lot lately, and they kindly told me. I picked three of them to test out!

How the coffin shape turned out and why 'Vampire' won

If done badly, the coffin shape can really come out ugly, but the Naeil Didi technician was a total pro. My criteria for choosing a nail salon really comes down to whether they can shape the coffin nicely!!! If they mess up the shape, I'm bummed out for the whole month my nails last. She made exactly the pretty coffin shape I wanted, precisely. After finishing, she asked if there was anything else I wanted adjusted, so I asked for it to be slightly slimmer haha.

She applied the base gel meticulously too, and — no two colors under the sun are truly the same — they all look similar but the three burgundy shades were each subtly different! The Naeil Didi technician picked out the shade that suited and flattered me best, incredibly well lol. So I decided on the color 'Vampire' — burgundy with a spoonful of brown, that kind of feel >,,<

With a nice thick layer of top gel added, the pretty coffin-shaped burgundy-brown nails were complete!!! Becoming a woman's little devil,,, this was exactly the vibe I wanted. That satisfaction when it comes out exactly how you imagined — unreal.

The shine is unbelievable too ㅠ.ㅠ It's magic how it makes even not-so-pretty hands look pretty. This is why I can't quit getting my nails done.

It's burgundy, it's brown, such a subtle and mysterious color! I find myself staring at my hands all day.

Who is Naeil Didi right for?

Apgujeong Rodeo nail salon Naeil Didi gave me the prettiest fall nails. I heard they're amazing at wedding nails too — if I ever get married, I'd love to get them done here haha.

If you love delicate nails, 'Aegyo-Gen' style nails, stone nails, or you're looking for a wedding nail salon, I recommend Apgujeong Rodeo nail salon Naeil Didi.
