Haebangchon wood-fired pizza with an autumn seasonal menu: TPM hbc

In short

TPM hbc is a wood-fired pizza restaurant in the Haebangchon alleys of Yongsan, Seoul, about a 10-minute walk from Noksapyeong Station. On the first day of the autumn seasonal menu, which started September 1, the fig and prosciutto pizza — a gorgonzola base topped with roasted walnuts — went well with a Suntory premium draft beer and tasted properly of the season. Because TPM hbc runs a separate seasonal menu, it is an easy place to book for a get-together when the season is right.

I went to Haebangchon near Noksapyeong Station and visited a pizza place called TPM hbc. The name sounded familiar — turns out they only have two locations, Haebangchon and Hanam Misa (what's the connection there, haha?).

They started a seasonal fruit pizza lineup on September 1st — seasonal peach, seasonal apple, seasonal fig, seasonal mushroom... such unique pizzas! Here's my review.

How to walk to TPM hbc from Noksapyeong Station, and how to book

The alley in Haebangchon leading to TPM hbc

TPM hbc is tucked into a Haebangchon alley, within a 10-minute walk of Noksapyeong Station. I was hungry, so I was glad it was so close to the station, haha. There's no parking lot, so you'll need to use a nearby public parking lot.

Reservations are through Catch Table and Naver Reservation. On weekdays it doesn't seem like you really need to book ahead.

The exterior is a converted Haebangchon villa/house turned restaurant.

I thought maybe they had outdoor terrace seating? Turns out the semi-basement is actually a bar called Birch Seoul. Definitely a spot where people walk into the wrong door a lot, haha. The pizza place, TPM, is up the stairs — this way, this way!

Two-person tables inside the restaurant

There are 2 group tables for gatherings and about 8 two-person tables, cozily arranged. If I'd come during the day, I bet the floor-to-ceiling windows would have let in great light.

There's an indoor restroom, by the way.

TPM hbc menu and Toss QR ordering: one drink per person

Ordering is done via Toss QR, so there was no separate paper menu, and since one drink or alcoholic beverage per person is required, we started off by adding two draft beers.

The pizzas were organized into seasonal pizzas and

signature pizzas. The server mentioned the autumn seasonal pizza had started just the day before our visit, so of course we picked that! You've got to enjoy things while they're in season.

What does the seasonal fig and prosciutto pizza taste like?

A whole wood-fired seasonal fig and prosciutto pizza

TPM hbc's seasonal fig prosciutto pizza combines fig and prosciutto on top of a gorgonzola base with roasted walnuts. The topping arrangement was neat and looked great at a glance.

Close-up of the gorgonzola base with roasted walnut topping

The sweetness of the fig, the saltiness of the prosciutto, and the richness of the gorgonzola came together beautifully — a combination that really felt like fall. The texture had a fun crunch thanks to the nuts, and with every slice I could taste distinct layers of flavor.

Overall, the fig's seasonal freshness really came through, and being wood-fired, the crust had a great chewy texture. Delicious, and the space was comfortable too — I'd recommend it as a meetup spot!

Bottles of red and green Tabasco

I like Tabasco too, but I'd never seen red and green Tabasco together like this before.

House-made namul served instead of pickles

Instead of pickles, they serve house-made namul (seasoned vegetable side dish)?! Great for cutting through the richness, but I heard from the group table next to us that refills after the first one are a paid add-on, sadly.

A glass of Suntory premium draft beer

The Suntory premium draft beer had a smooth, clean taste that paired really well with the pizza. Cold and smooth — so this is what premium tastes like. Pizza and beer together is just love.

Verdict: is TPM hbc worth it for a Haebangchon get-together?

Table set with pizza and beer at the end of the meal

The dining space had a relaxed atmosphere that made it easy to chat over the meal, and with the pizza's quality being so high, each bite of the seasonal-ingredient pizza paired with each sip of the premium draft beer just clicked.

I found myself thinking I'd want to stop by TPM hbc again the next time I'm in Haebangchon. Since they run seasonal menus, maybe I need to come back in winter! If you're visiting Haebangchon near Noksapyeong in Yongsan, I'd recommend checking it out.
