It had been a while, but I finally went to Ongfleur, a café with amazing atmosphere, for a brunch lunch!! I'd wanted to go for ages because the vibe and the visuals looked so good, and sure enough, it was really delicious and totally satisfying!! Great spot for an Itaewon brunch date!!!

Where is Ongfleur and what are its hours?

Ongfleur, a great Itaewon brunch date spot, is about a 2-minute walk from Grand Hyatt Seoul. Since it's on a hill below Namsan Park, I'd recommend taking a village bus from the hotel rather than walking up. There's no parking lot.

Inside Ongfleur: the Normandy-style space and the private room for four

Ongfleur's counter and kitchen area

Ongfleur takes its concept from the coastal town of Honfleur on the Normandy coast in France, and it's a clean, cozy, comfortable café. This spot doubles as the counter and kitchen, and the atmosphere is honestly so pretty!!

Further inside there are several separate spaces. This one, in particular, is the prettiest — the main space. With white walls, clean tables, flowers, potted plants, a piano, and a huge picture window, it was bright and cheerful.

Further inside, there's a really spacious area, plus a private room with a table for four. It's great for private family gatherings or group meetups. And it's a dog-friendly café — while I was eating, two big dogs came in!!

The brunch set and americano at Ongfleur

It was almost too pretty to eat!!! Since it was still hot during the day, iced was the better choice. I got an iced Americano with an extra shot. The acidity wasn't too high and it had a nutty flavor, so it was really good.

What does Ongfleur's smoked salmon eggs Benedict taste like?

Plate of the signature smoked salmon eggs Benedict

This is the signature smoked salmon eggs Benedict. The colors look like they were painted on, they're that insane!!!! It's even prettier in person!!

This brunch is made with a soft-boiled egg, smoked salmon, green leafy vegetables, tomato, red onion, a nutty sauce, and chewy bread. There's salad and tropical fruit and lemon on the side to go with it. It's not just pretty to look at, it's genuinely healthy food!! The balance of carbs, protein and fat was perfect, which made it even more satisfying!!

The light, nutty sauce combined with the egg yolk to create an absolutely intense wave of nuttiness — genuinely delicious!!! It wasn't overpowering, it was clean, but the flavor was still layered and complex. Especially since it's smoked salmon rather than raw salmon, that distinct smoky taste added a huge amount of umami!! It's much richer and better if you eat everything together in small bites rather than one ingredient at a time!!

Is the avocado add-on worth it?

Added avocado topped with cheese and onion flakes

Some ingredients can be added on. So I added avocado, and of course, the visuals were amazing!!! I would've thought nothing of it if they'd just served it plain, but with nutty cheese and onion flakes(?) sprinkled on top, it looked even better and tasted even better!! The avocado was perfectly ripe too.
